Another Saturday night: Iowa at Illinois

Unlike Rutgers, Iowa moves from FS1 to the Big Ten Network for the 6:30 PM kick for the Hawkeyes game at Illinois this Saturday night.

In tribute to this week's game, a little sweet music, as @torbee was right on this week's recap, regarding the Michigan 27, Iowa 14 game at Kinnick.

Since 1974, my first season at Kinnick, I have seen some great games, good, bad and ugly ones too!

The 2022 season hasn't brought a lot of sweet music thus far.

Hayden Fry had some classic games in the Iowa-Illinois series. He had some real ugly, not good ones too!

Iowa has won 13 of last 14 games against Illinois. However, with OC Brian Ferentz at the helm, the Hawkeyes have really struggled in both victory and defeat in route to this 3-2, 1-1 B1G start in 2022.

Iowa has struggled with 14-0 and 10-0 deficits the past two outings in this series. A slow start on Saturday night might not turn out, as well, as QB Spencer Petras returns to this one, after Alex Padilla's start in 2021.

Iowa needs to get back to complementary football as they return to B1G West competition for the first time, since last year's 10-4, 7-2 B1G season.

The 2018 game at Illinois.

Former Iowa player and assistant Bret Bielema will have plenty to have his Illini playing for on Saturday night.

A 35 point game would be nice on Saturday night. But, hard to envision a breakout game for the Hawkeyes right now, right?

The Illini are pretty salty heading into this one. We can only hope the B1G win last week in Madison takes down the Illini a bit here in Champaign.

The Illini's biggest wins have come on the road under Bret Bielema in Minnesota, in State College and last week in Madison.
