There is your game. Iowa had the reverse advantage in the big man category but it is a guard game. Their guards' easy looks for layup with constantly breaking down our defense just busted the hawks Dee. Connor couldnt get to the rim (and in past tense now), Ulis can beat his man but he doesnt threaten the rim and teams know it, Freeman can penetrate and go to the rim or get that short jumper a lot of the time but not so easily.

We need a Woodbury/Olesani type shot blocker/alterer as well who can also score and rebound. But it is the guards in the last few minutes also beat the buzzer, draw the fouls and get the free throws, etc.

Next year if all stays the same Perkins, PMac and Sandfort look to me to be 3 starters so definite need for a top pt guard who might be on the team with improvement and that big guy.

Do our incoming freshman have the ability to fit these two positions?

It's been like this for years now.

A shot blocking, glass cleaning, scorer down low? Is that all? Easy-peasy. Guys like that grow on trees.

We had one last year. His name was Keegan Murray. He did that and a whole lot more. The problem personnel wise with Fran's teams hasn't been down low. They've been at the guard position. Look at the box scores in the last 4 tournaments. That should tell you all you need to know.

Layer on top of that a complete inability to coach defense and the results are predictable.
