Offensively for Iowa
Jake Mangler was 3-6 with an RBI and a run
Tyler Peyton was 2-5 with an RBI - he had two doubles
Eric Toole was 1-5 with 3 RBIs
Eric Schenck-Joblinske was 1-3 with two runs

Iowa still needs to get a lot better offensively. I will take a 6-1 victory every day of the week.

The 3rd, 8th, and 9th innings Iowa had the bases loaded and could've done A LOT more damage with it, but would strike out or ground into double plays.

Iowa loses 9-8 today. They had this game and walks and an error led to a walkoff grandslam. I said a week ago that free bases would bite them eventually and it did. Always nice to win 2-3 every weekend but sucks when you were one out from a sweep.

Best offensive game for Iowa this year.

Iowa had 11 hits

Eric Toole was 4-4 with a double, triple and two runs
Joel Booker was 2-4 with 4 RBIs

Iowa is 9-2 and faces AIB on Wednesday for the home opener before going on the road to Houston Baptist for four games.

This loss definitely hurts as it should have been a sweep, but it is what it is. Hopefully Iowa learns from it and realizes they need to bring their A game all the time. As an Iowa baseball fan we have definitely been on both sides of a game like this before.

Made the drive to MTSU over the weekend and it was great to see a good number of Hawkeye fans there. Sunday was a huge disappointment, but those things happen. Not looking past AIB, but it will be very telling to see what happens at Houston and KU. The depth at pitching, which coach Heller has talked about will be tested both physically and mentally.
