Jesus people. This is about basketball. I don’t disagree but take all of this to the off topic board!
I do think the social media and the 30 second news craze plays a part in all this. Probably the largest part.
I brought this up in another thread but i can only think of one other example of this much pressure
Tiger Woods
He clearly was a phenom. Expectations were thru the galaxy. He was going to change the game. Break down all barriers. Become the richest most popular athlete of all time. He was everywhere, and….he backed it up. He dominated like no one ever has and possibly ever will. Injuries kept him from setting the major wins record. Yet we still follow his every swing.
Imagine if the entire world watched your every golf shot. And you’re expected to win every time you walk the course. It’s insane the pressure he had on him. I won’t go into her personal life haha
Traditionalists would complain about tigers demeanor and attitude all the time. His swearing. His stoic, serious look of intimidation to his partners.
But the thing is, all those golfers would do the same shit. Swear. Throw clubs. Pout. Complain. Drink. Party. Smoke. Womanize.
So Caitlin is experiencing what it is to be in the upper echelons of fame right now. And when you reach that height there’s only gonna be haters that get the attention.
She should avoid the Tiger route which was so manufactured by Nike and others that the fall from grace was so shocking and hard.
Not that she’s gonna bang porn stars, but hopefully she continues to be herself. Let the media and people complain or compliment, there’s no control over that. To try and manufacture something to please everyone will only lead to misery
This is what the media does (and has for a long time).
You get the attention by building someone up (or a team). There’s the feel good stories, the interviews, etc etc
People are excited and intrigued.
Continue to feed this narrative until it’s reached its peak.
Then you go the other way. “Are people getting tired of Caitlin Clark??? Here from our panel of experts!!”
It drives up attention because people love to bitch and tear down too.
I don’t think her game or personality has changed THAT much at Iowa. What has changed is our views being manipulated ever so slightly by message boards, talk shows, articles, social media
Throw in the pressure of Iowa trying to get back to the finals and we’ll notice every little thing that last year we ignored cause there weren’t expectations
Meh, it's not a joke this time around. Neither deserve to be President. You know this, you're just too powerless to do anything about it.
Look at the television ratings, the sold out arenas. Clark fatigue is a myth. Conjured up by those who benefit by stirring the pot. Don't buy into it. Other sporting and news events occur and we focus on that, but Caitlin is the real straw that stirs the drink, not podcasters and social media types.
One thing is clear, reading the back and forth name-calling, we must be a nation of dumbasses. And look who we've selected to be the two candidates for president. That proves it. Both parties should be embarrassed. I prefer talking about our Hawkeyes, the good and the bad, but at least I feel we're on the same team.

I’ll try to explain why the items I listed above are attributed to Trump/Republican policies. Point (1) the economy was better under Trump due, in part, to his tax rate cuts, resulting in low inflation and int rates; (2) lower crime…just look at blue states/cities vs red states/cities…enough said; (3) safer border/less immigration - we certainly didn’t see the large number of illegal immigrants flowing over our southern border under Trumps “remain in Mexico” and other border policies that Biden stopped. This point also ties into more crime in the U.S. too. Lastly (4) less global strife - no major wars during Trump term, more stable Middle East, i.e., the Abraham Accords, no embarrassing withdrawal from Afghanistan, etc. Biden is viewed as “weak” by other world leaders, which puts our country at risk. Anyway, this will be my last political post on this sports site. Now let’s go Hawks vs Colorado!!!!
None of that relates to Trump. You are equating things Trump did nothing for and in many cases made worse and you don't seem to have a problem with Trump trying to steal the election through nefarious methods. I won't convince you and you won't convince me, so let's just leave it at that.

These kind of comments amazes me. You have Trump who's banned from running charities as well as banned from doing business in NY all because of his grifting and fraud. Biden has never been convicted of anything and many of the claims of his 'crimes' have been debunked, yet you still support the criminal and accuse the Biden of being the corrupt one.
