My thoughts on Tim Lester

I think Sollivan is a good QB. He got roughed up at UCLA and had turnovers. Was he injured and then started turning the ball over or turning the ball over and then injured? The 2 prior games he looked real good in.
So, he looked pretty good but he rarely passed the ball. He threw 14 and 10 passes for 80 and 93 yards respectively in those 2 games against some pretty weak competition. He's was definitely an upgrade from Cade, but that just meant he wasn't very bad, and was a much better fit for the offense that Lester wants to run. We'll have to see what happens, but IMO the QB room still needs a fair amount of work.

Eberflus fired

It’s definitely enough time, they practice that exact scenario.

Williams deserves blame, but it’s the coaches job to manage the clock. And I’m still not sure what was being said in Williams’ ear. I know Eberflus wasn’t saying anything because he completely froze. He should have been fired on just that frozen, glazed look on his face.
I’m sure they do practice it. And 25 seconds should be enough time to run your FG team onto the field.

But I’m also sure the Bears also practice two-minute drills and 32 seconds should be plenty of time to line up and run a play and then call timeout.

Except that it wasn’t.

I’m also curious to know what happened at 0:43 when they were forced to burn their second timeout after an incomplete pass because 40 seconds wasn’t enough time for them to line up and run the next play.

Out of the loop re: McNamara

This. He also knows he knee was bad when he signed. He hoped but UM told him the truth.
So you don’t think Iowa did a complete physical on him to make sure he was medically cleared? Because if you don’t then you’re ridiculous. We took a chance and it didn’t work out, for many reasons. But when you’re as desperate for a QB as we were/are you do certain things.

Blame the Left? Who Are You Trying to Kid?

Lol, weasel. Go find meore italicized Google searches, a wall of them, to bore people away from your arguments, which will surely feel like a victory for you. I'm sure you can use data from voting records in peer reviewed books, but what you did was cherry pick the same years everyone else like you picks and build your assumptions from there. I think anyone not being disingenuous to win the internet can tell you there is a huge difference between Harris and say Sanders, AOC, other squad members, etc.
It’s not me, it’s UCLA in peer reviewed research.

Where’s your peer reviewed research demonstrating that UCLA is ‘cherry picking’?

Don’t have any? None? Just gaslighting without evidence again?

2024 Passing Offense -- ranked 107th

Yes, it's beating a dead horse. But this horse needs beaten until KF realizes and fixes the problem or changes are made at the top.

Iowa's 2024 passing yardage totaled 1580 yards (131.7 y/g). They managed 9TD - 7 INT, which puts it on par with Navy with their 1410 yards and 13TD - 6 INT, with one game to play.

Indiana has a Top 5 passing offense.
UNLV's Go-Go offense comes in Top 20.
Even Iowa State has a Top 50 passing offense.

KF needs to make the move to 3.0.
Evolve the passing offense to something functional & modern.
There are plenty of ways to protect the football and still threaten the secondary.

It's the only way forward.
Get the job done KF.
Clock's ticking.
i think Lester will help this over time. just not sure how quickly this can be fixed. we return 5 wideouts that could not get open no matter who played qb this yr. TE injuries were a prob, but they were not open much either when healthy. This is against loaded boxes because of our NFL tailback. what happens next yr when teams can actually not load the box to stop the run? hopefully Lester can address this in the portal.

My thoughts on Tim Lester

So, the only QB on the roster that was a "Brian/Kirk/Budmayr guy is Cade. Sullivan and Shaggy arrived after Lester was on board. I still don't know if Iowa has a legitimate P4 starting QB on staff. Getting Northwestern and Colorado State cast offs at QB typically isn't a recipe for success at that position. They were last minute additions at a moment of crisis at that position. The fact that they looked more efficient than Cade says way more about Cade than anything else.
I think Sollivan is a good QB. He got roughed up at UCLA and had turnovers. Was he injured and then started turning the ball over or turning the ball over and then injured? The 2 prior games he looked real good in.

Which bowl we going?

Doubt it. SEC has 6-7 playoff-quality teams, and only 3-4 will go to the CFP, so we'll be drawing one of them. The "good" news for Iowa is that, in this day and age, bowl games are frequently played between teams that are shells of themselves, so maybe they could actually pull off a win against a team that is clearly superior. Looks the same in the record books....
The last two weeks I watched Georgia struggle with UMASS, and get outplayed by Georgia Tech.

SEC is down. The only one I’d rather not play is Ole Miss. Great rush defense.

For those wanting Kirk Ferentz gone

Ponder this. The schools in our region we compete against for recruits usually "out recruit" us. Yet, even with better talent we keep beating them. Fleck, Fickle, Rhule and Campbell are a combined 3-17 against Kirk. With equal or better talent. Hmmmm
It is really simple. Get at least a semi effective offense. Something is wrong at Iowa. If it is KF then it is time to move on.

The Moral Challenge of Trumpism

“What kind of person do we want our children to become — reformers who honor their commitments to serve and change the institutions they love or performative arsonists who vow to burn it all down?”

Parents, not government, set the examples for their children. And when government encroaches on parental authority and family sovereignty, it deserves to be burned to the ground.

Out of the loop re: McNamara

You literally made up a question which appears to be, “Why should we honor guys that didn’t play or played poorly?” and then pretend that I asked that.
I asked simply why was Cade jusfited in not walking because he wouldn’t have gotten a loud applause.
And then I asked did certain players get the same applause as others. Which obviously didn’t happen.
Are you this forgetful or a liar? You asked:
Why?? Did the walk on offensive lineman that never played get the same applause as Jay Higgins?? Is there a rule you need to clap the same for everyone?!?
And I answered the “why.”
Maybe you’re drunk…
