Portal Activity:
> 1529 in the transfer portal as of 9:00p 5/22/25. Jan got 2 she wanted. Portal closes for the Hawks!
> 972 committed | 50 Withdrew (~67% off the board, ~33% remaining). ~0.1% off the board on 5/22/25.
> Portal is closed. Players can still enter it with a coaching change. Only 1/3 remaining for new homes.
> Jan found the scoring guard/forward (Emely Rodriguez) on a Hawk Central podcast 4/30/25.

5/1/25 - Iowa coach Jan Jensen talks Caitlin Clark's return to Carver and much more (Chit-Chat and portal)
4/30/25 - Jan Jensen podcast (still looking for a scoring guard/forward):

Potential Needs (Jan says she's looking for 2 in the portal):
- Ball Handling to break a press (replace Lucy) -> Chit-Chat Wright
- Deep 3s to open lane (replace Lucy) -> Chit-Chat Wright -> Emely Rodriguez
- Top Scorer (replace some or all of Lucy's production) -> Chit-Chat Wright -> Emely Rodriguez
- Stretch 3/4 Forward (replace Syd type guard/forward/shooter) -> Emely Rodriguez
- 4/21/25 - Jan talking on OnIowa Live about #1 spot and #3/4 spots

Best Players Available in Portal For Our Possible Needs:
Stretch 3/4:
> Saige Stahl (Indiana State) - Pros: She had good GmSr's against P4/5 teams. She has a good Player Efficiency Rating (21.0) and very high Scoring Efficiency rating (want 1.200 or higher and she has 1.461); Cons: Not big on 3's @ 28.5% (2 for 7). Ast/TO is not good but many forwards get hit in this area. "Last resort" insurance policy backup and probably not cost an arm and a leg
> Courtney Dahlquist (Campbell) - Pros: 37.% 3pt% Cons: Didn't play well against all three P5 teams.

Non-3ptrs (longer shots that can't stretch the floor so I doubt they're even considered):
>Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda (Texas)

Just not a lot of talent left to work with.

Committed to Iowa:
1) Chazadi "Chit-Chat" Wright (GA Tech) committed on 4/23/25.
Starts @6:28...
A CHAT WITH CHIT-CHAT | Chazadi Wright EXCLUSIVE interview | Week 248 - Brada's Branded Thoughts

"I can't wait for those fans though."

Is that all there is?

I come to this site daily hoping to see a headline that BM has landed some game-changing recruit or a highly ranked transfer. After the initial flurry since his hiring and word half (exaggeration) his Drake squad is following him, nothing.

My excitement has waned incredibly. We won’t know until we see the product on the floor, I know, but right now I’m not seeing an upgrade.

Jimmy Chitwood, where are you?

First confirmed case of measles reported in Iowa since 2019

First confirmed case of measles reported in Iowa since 2019

An unvaccinated adult in central Iowa has tested positive for measles, marking the first confirmed case of the highly contagious respiratory virus in the state since 2019, the state Department of Health and Human Services said.

Iowa HHS wrote in a release Friday, May 23, that the case tested positive through the State Hygienic Laboratory. The state hasn't released the identity of the person who tested positive nor where they are from. No widespread public exposure is expected through the case, and an investigation has been completed.

Iowa is among 31 states that have confirmed measles cases involved in a growing nationwide outbreak that has totaled 1,024 cases, including three deaths because of the illness this year.

*** 2025 fever/Caitlin/kate/meg/lucy thread***

Okay, new season officially today, so new thread for those thinking the old one was too unwieldy. By my math, the fever can only carry 11 to start the season, and then have to wait 7 games to sign another rookie or brown on a prorated contract. I predict the 11th spot goes to timpson, and hall gets added after 7 games. What say you?
