Chris Tadjo: “I model my game after Bam Adebayo.”

He sounds like exactly what we need. Defense and rebounding.

Anyone have $200,000 to spare? That's the starting point for an Elite Point Guard

Its unfortunately probably more "political" than anything in the sense that the athletic departments don't want to give up their control over the money. If people start donating to the Swarm instead of the U of I Foundation, then the athletic director loses power and control over that money...

Anyone have $200,000 to spare? That's the starting point for an Elite Point Guard

I believe he originally recruited Washpun, but didn't when he transferred. Or do I have that backwards?

Anyone have $200,000 to spare? That's the starting point for an Elite Point Guard

That's the kicker. We have the money but can't spend it on players. Instead the coaches get it. It would make sense to hire a coach on the cheap and spend the money on players. Let the free markets work.

Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

How does the European model work? Don't they have "clubs" instead of university teams? I could see a hybrid evolving where players play for a University but don't actually attend school there (unless they want to) and are paid by the Club. The Club could license the school's name.

Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

I’d say Rebraca was a good pick up. We wouldn’t have made the NCAAs last year without him. Krikke was a big miss. With Perkins leaving Fran definitely needs to change his strategies and pick up a couple good portal players. That means he needs to roust up some money. I wonder, and I’m surprised...

Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

The eyeball test. Perkins cherry picks a lot and plays off his man, hence more steals, but not good fundamentals. I think Fran even said he was assigned the toughest player to guard. Im not the only one to think Dix is a better defender.

Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

They certainly played more minutes, but statistically Harding was better than Gessell in 3 point shooting and assists. Bohannon shot the 3 a little better, but Harding had more asisists per minute and a better A/T ratio. I think Harding is a better defender than Bohannon, not as good as Gessell...

Hoiberg has an atrocious record, made only one tournament and has zero tournament wins in 5 years. I’m not getting the love.

Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

You just going to ignore Dix, Freeman (BTPOY) and Harding, who probably had the best freshman year at guard that we’ve seen since Horner?

Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

This is in no way comparable to Lick. That was a dumpster fire program. We’ve got a strong freshman class, two probable All Big upper classmen and a good recruiting class coming in. I think we pick up 2 guys in the portal for depth, but there is a solid nucleus here.

Tony Perkins enters the Transfer Portal

I wish him well, but I do question his effort in the last few games. Maybe he was hurt, maybe he just didn’t give a damn. I wonder if he will return to Indiana or Purdue. Dix was our best perimeter defender. Still is.

    Brock Harding

That’s simply not true, I’ve seen him play a lot of man, including last night. Their guards were killing us well before he came in the game.

    Brock Harding

Nice fh I was very skeptical of Harding going into the season, especially concerning his defense and 3 point shooting. His defense's isn’t terrible and his shooting really came on the second half of the season. His vision, ball handling and passing are off the charts. I think we finally got a...

what do you grade the 2023-24 season

Mostly agree. I do think we will see a lot of defensive improvement purely by subtraction. I don't think Harding was as bad defensively as we expected him to be, he can be very disruptive at times. Also, I'd rather have a strong combo guard who can guard 3 positions instead of a point. I...

what do you grade the 2023-24 season

The poll is about the season, not 25 years of the Iowa program. I thought we were a borderline bubble team going into the season and after the first few games I didn't think we had a chance. I actually think this was one of Fran's better years coaching, getting to 10-10 in the Big and in the...

Owen Freeman makes it clear he will be back

That's good news. I feel like he, Brock and Dix and the rest of the freshman & incoming class are the nucleus of a pretty good run. It was great to see Brock and Pryce hit some three pointers in the 2nd half of the season, those guys need to hit them consistently for us to win next year. I've...

I wish him well and thank him for his dedication. It’s not easy playing for your Dad in your home town but I think he handled it well. Much respect.
