Yeah, I've been watching this pretty closely. Extremely troubling to see the military junta pull this.
Almost just as troubling was to hear all of these Americans at the end of December complain so strongly about 'why are we sending all this money to foreign countries that hate us?!?!?!'. It's...
As I've stated before, America is being held back by a severe lack of courtesy for others. Friendly as can be but a major lack of courtesy. The obsession with individualism is crushing thoughtfulness for others.
I remember when I moved back to the States, I took my folks to see Steve Martin...
Back to the topic of Covid in Asia, while most Asian countries have clearly done a superior job of handling the pandemic, the Western world seems to be winning the vaccine response.
Spoke to a good friend of mine yesterday - a senior editor at The Japan Times - and he was saying Japan's...
You're making the mistake of lumping Asian cultures into one bowl. There is a world of difference between the people of China, Japan and Cambodia.
I actually find Americans remind me quite a bit of Chinese people with certain aspects of the culture.
What's interesting about American culture is...
This has happened to me.
Worked for a law firm and was replaced by a more knowledgeable employee. Still allowed to stay on for a another two months before the new employee could arrive in the country. Kind of an odd situation but understandable for a small business that didn't need the...

December 7, 1941 - 2,403 Americans die at Pearl Harbor
December 8, 1941 - 'I'm here to enlist to defeat this enemy. Never forget!!!'
December 4, 2020 - 2,637 Americans die from Covid-19
December 5, 2020 - 'Oh, yeah? Bummer. I'm going to they club'.
What's really impressive, check out Thailand. They are absolutely crushing it.
In the last week, a woman returned from Myanmar and illegally violated the 14-day quarantine order after leaving the hotel. Went all over Chiang Mai tourist sites and tested positive. This is actually pretty big...
Keep in mind, Japan has one of the oldest populations in the world.
If any country could 'benefit' from a Covid outbreak, it would be Japan. They have way too many old folks that the younger generations can't afford.
One stark difference I've noticed between the two countries:
Japan - 'How do my actions effect other people?'
USA - 'Your health isn't my responsibility'
Keep us posted on the results.
The lady friend lost taste and smell on Friday and I was with her all day Thursday. So far, other than a headache all weekend, I feel fine. (Famous last words)
