Mastro or Madrigal are the only 2 that make any sense. It’s not going to be Happ, Belli, Morel, Dansby, Hoerner, Busch. Amaya, Gomes. Cooper and Tauchman would require DFA/cutting ties with the player. That leaves Canario, Mastro, Madrigal. Canario would be the 4th OF, so that should lock him... -

I get that a private jet isn’t the standard…..but Craig was saying post-midnight Central that they were still debating whether to call someone up. Tom should call someone with a private jet if he doesn’t have his own, to make this happen. -

I would have left him in to at least face Joc at least. If he gets hammered there, then sure, go ahead to Smyly. Drew has thrown a lot lately, too, so I did wonder about that. Just happy it worked out and the Cubs escaped that house of horrors. -

Serious question: Optimism about any Hawkeye sports this coming year?
Women’s hoops basically has to fall back, but I’ve seen a lot of commentary about being “back to not making tournaments”. Twitter doesn’t handle a news vacuum very well. Seeing all kinds of speculation that Seiya is hurt based on him pulling up on a run to 1B yesterday or that Morel is going on the shelf with a hand injury (Counsell has said his hand has been bothering him since a foul ball swing a few days ago)... -

For what it’s worth, Alcantara got off to a really bad start last season, too, before coming on really strong. His start is definitely worth watching and I wouldn’t dismiss it, but it’s also 24 PAs. If he was having a solid season and this stretch happened in June, we wouldn’t pay nearly as much... -

I’ve seen reports that Hendricks is going to IL, but nothing yet from the official transaction log or any of the beat writers, so we’ll see. Agree here though. Hendricks is a slow starter, so I’m not ready to pull any plugs yet. -

Largely just playing the long game. Seems they wanted him out around 75 pitches. I kind of wanted him to stay in and chase the opportunity for a win, but I don’t really mind the move. -

He’s never done it and he hasn’t pitched in the majors in 3 years. Chapman also didn’t have a history of burning down clubhouses. I’m very much out. -
