Do we have any wide receivers?

We are thin at WR for sure. Keagan didn’t play today.

    QB Sneak with Pottebaum pushing...

Watch the film. Was the fullback in to push the pile when it failed? The answer is no. No team has stopped our QB sneak any time this season when the fullback was behind QB to push the pile. Even if the opposing team knew it was coming. In fact, we frequently gain 5-7 yards. Contrast that...

    QB Sneak with Pottebaum pushing...

Nothing is ever guaranteed, but running the QB sneak with Pottebaum behind it gives us the best chance to win and had a 100% conversion rate on the season. There were 4 or 5 times today where that should have been the play call and if we convert only 1 or 2 of those we win that game.

    QB Sneak with Pottebaum pushing...

Fullback wasn’t in there to push the pile, and according to Petras the Kentucky DT hit the snap with his hand. Regardless, Pottebaum needs to be in there on every QB sneak to push the pile. Basic physics.

    QB Sneak with Pottebaum pushing...

RUN IT!! Should be our go to play on every 3rd/4th and 1. We have the best center and one of the best fullbacks in college football, and a 240lb+ QB. No team stopped that play all year. Failing to see that cost us the game today.

I hope they don’t settle. That sets a terrible precedent.

Reasons for problems on O Line

It looks like a combination of attrition and a poor recruiting year in 2018 are the reasons for our problems on the O line this year. From the 2017 class, we lost Kallenberger unexpectedly and with little warning. Wirfs left early for the NFL. 2018 was a weak year for recruiting OTs for us...

You get to make ONE change...

It seems like we usually have a couple absolute studs on the O line and a couple liabilities, and overall they balance out to be a decent to good unit.

    One thing overlooked this season

I’d like to see Jones get more targets in a vertical passing game. It seems like he’s got wheels

    One thing overlooked this season

I actually thought this since the beginning of the season. We lack difference makers at the WR position. Maybe KJ or Charlie Jones can be one. But I’m not sold yet, and the others are very underwhelming in my opinion.

Agree with you. Problem is that’s just not going to happen. Kirk is not going to fire his own son. That’s the problem with hiring him in the first place and it should have never been allowed.

YES 100%. Pottebaum needs to be behind the QB to push the pile forward 100% of the time we run that play. Pretty inexcusable that he wasn’t in there IMO.

    Keagan Johnson

I believe Tracy should be used for screen passes and short dig routes. Get the other receivers more reps for everything else.

So, basically.......there was no plan to stop David Bell.

Half the time the receiver was so open he didn’t even need to be accurate

What is Iowa’s base defense? Is it a cover 4 scheme? Seems like we usually have two deep safeties and two corners playing deep zone

Stop gaslighting. Your players were faking injuries to get a breather. Deal with it.
