He was 19 and never been kissed before Katy Perry came in with a sneak attack. He wished it hadn't happened.
Oklahoma City’s NBC affiliate reports:
From a 2018 New York Times report:Benjamin Glaze, a former “American Idol” contestant, was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last week after authorities say they found hundreds of images and videos of child pornography on a smartphone in his home.
The Tulsa Police Sexual Predator/Digital Evidence Recovery Unit says it received a tip about Glaze, 26, back in April 2024, claiming that he was in possession of child porn.
While executing a search warrant on Glaze’s home, investigators reported finding over 700 images and videos of child sexual abuse material on a smartphone. He has since been released from jail after posting a $50,000 bond, according to court records.
When Benjamin Glaze, at the time a 19-year-old cashier from Enid, Okla., auditioned for “American Idol,” he had hoped his big moment would come as he belted out “Stadium,” a song he wrote himself. That or Nick Jonas’s 2015 single “Levels.”
Instead, it came when the pop star Katy Perry, a judge on the show, surprised him by kissing him smack on the lips, moments before his audition. He had never been kissed before.
“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no,” he said. “I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
