Now, if you don't visit Chicago a lot, there is still some value in this article in just reading it and doing some exploring in whatever city you are visiting, or live in. There are some very unique menu offerings at the restaurants in this article. Definitely not your standard chicken dish, pasta dish, or Caesar salad offerings as the author states.

Honest to God, next time you are in town for an Iowa-NU weekend, get the pizza at Labriola. It's maybe half a block off Michigan Ave. Not sure of the address, about 501 N. Michigan or something like that.

Purple Pig is overrated, overpriced and small plates for what you pay.

I don't know what the locals think about Volare but their version of carbonara - lobster, shrimp, and crawfish, may have been the best pasta dish I have ever eaten...we ate there last week and everyone in our group loved their meal.

Lots of good food but it's super pricey. Just get back to your hotel in Schaumburg before it gets dark or you will probably get murdered.

I just spent last weekend in Chicago and I think I gained 5 pounds. Ribs from twin anchors, Italian beef at portillos, pasta, brunch, apps at goose island, drinks all day....
