Freakin, Iowa
Mike Warren is as good as any running back Iowa has.
Allen Lazard will be drafted before Desmond King.
Lazard faces defensive backs in the Big 12 who are as good as King.
Matt Campbell is an Offensive Line genius.
Iowa State's Defense is great out of necessity, since the Big12 is loaded with Offensive juggernauts.
Joel Lanning is the greatest quarterback in the history of High School football in the state of Iowa.
Iowa State is loaded with Wide Receivers similar to Allen Lazard.

Iowa State has no pressure to win this game.
Iowa State has won 10 of the last 18 games against Iowa.
Iowa State has won the last 2 meetings in Kinnick.

the Top 7 points I've been hearing during the course of the week... none of which I agree with.
however, the Bottom 3 points are true.

This might be the biggest game in the history of this rivalry...
Coach Ferentz just signed a gazillion dollar contract...
its a home game.
Coach Ferentz has a losing record against Iowa State.
Greg Davis has never beaten Iowa State in Kinnick.
Kinnick is going to be loaded with a bunch of drunk people.
the National Spotlight is on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
ESPN is rooting against the Hawkeyes.
Iowa State beat Iowa in basketball.

all things considered.... this is a must win.
if you have even one Cyclone buddy..... you know this is a must win.

It is pretty interesting that a head coach with a LOSING record against measly old ISU signs a $gizzllion contract on the heels of a totally embarrassing game in the Rose Bowl. Did he cross some impossible barrier or something (ask Barry Alverez how totally impossible it is for someone other than Ohio State to actually win a Rose Bowl game)? By my way of thinking, WINNING at least one Rose Bowl ought to be the standard for paying the kind of money Ferentz is now getting (and I'm not begrudging Iowa's willingness to pay big bucks to keep a coach for stability's sake, only suggesting the contract is flat out outrageous for what he has accomplished so far). So here we are, deep into Ferentz's tenure, and Iowa fans are hoping--hoping--our $gizzilion head coach can even up his record against ISU at .500. .500!!! What an accomplishment this would be (and it's no sure thing)! Having said that, fans are now left to hope that Ferentz is well-positioned to take his program into a very high stratosphere (such as winning a Rose Bowl game) and, at the very very least, retire with a winning record against measly old ISU. Can't believe the latter accomplishment is even in question, but it definitely is.

Yeah, he should win more Rose Bowls, despite the fact he's got an Orange Bowl win and got screwed out of the chance of playing in another Rose Bowl!

Yes, very happy Iowa beat Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl and, most recently, Mizzou in the 2010 Insight Bowl. But let's face it, Iowa has been blown out in every bowl game since then (of course I'm really glad Iowa qualified for those bowl games). All I'm saying is, the new contract is an amazing reward for so little post-season success over the past several seasons. This is not intended as a "Fire Ferentz" rant, nor do I think he is undeserving of decent compensation. I'm very happy he's heading up the program--class, integrity, all that stuff. Things are looking up. However, my point is: How about WINNING one RB before receiving that kind of money? In other words, earn it on the field. To me, he rather groggily let the program slip for several seasons until last year (pretty much admitted so himself after looking in the mirror). It's easy to forget just how far the program had sunk until last regular season. I mean, who can forget 2014 against ISU (pathetic)?

And are you disputing his losing record against ISU?

If you don't understand why Kirk is paid what he is you have very little understanding of Iowa football history.

(hint its because of those top three top 10 finishes in his first six years and the fact the NFL came sniffing around)

Here is my take
Mike Warren is as good as any running back Iowa has.(possible)
Allen Lazard will be drafted before Desmond King. (unlikely)
Lazard faces defensive backs in the Big 12 who are as good as King. (not true)
Matt Campbell is an Offensive Line genius. (false)
Iowa State's Defense is great out of necessity, since the Big12 is loaded with Offensive juggernauts. (maybe OK against the spread, but not pro)
Joel Lanning is the greatest quarterback in the history of High School football in the state of Iowa. (never heard of him)
Iowa State is loaded with Wide Receivers similar to Allen Lazard. (True in being loaded)

Iowa State has no pressure to win this game. (true)
Iowa State has won 10 of the last 18 games against Iowa. (disgusting)
Iowa State has won the last 2 meetings in Kinnick.(That's because they like pink)

the Top 7 points I've been hearing during the course of the week... none of which I agree with.

Well, I grew up watching Evy and his Hawkeyes win two Rose Bowls (the only two ever won by the Iowa football program), suffered through the hapless post-Evy years and then enjoyed the amazing return to prominence under Hayden Fry. I haven't missed a home game since I don't know when and never fail to watch, either in person or on TV, every single road game. Other than that, no, I have no "understanding of Iowa football history."

Well you keep whining about why Kirk is paid $4.5 million and don't understand why. So that leads me to believe you may have lived through all that, but you still have little understanding of the program and its history.

Or how college athletics has changed dramatically over that same time span.

Kirk is worth every nickle he makes. The 7 Saturdays a year bring in $110 Million to the area community...when the program is healthy. Kirk graduates his players, sends a disproportionate amount of players to the NFL, makes good men out of boys, has had 4 Top 10 finishes, played in 3 BCS level bowls, won 2 B1G titles (shares) and a B1G West championship and was one play away from last years play-offs. Look at Iowa State's program to know how bad it can get at Iowa.
