To be fair to BF, we were 115th in red zone O before the NW game, so the stat is a bit misleading. With just a little better execution, I think we have a legitimate shot at breaking the top 100 in rush offense and red zone O.

Thats... um... horrible.

So 124 of 129? There are only 5 teams worse than us in the NATION? Looks like we need to break tendency and just throw the nugget.

The 3rd down rate doesn't shock me at all with how far behind schedule we are on 1st down.

This is against defenses that rank (total defense):

Wyoming - 31
Iowa St. - 35
North Texas - 109
Penn St. - 9
Mich St. - 4
Illinois - 82
Northwestern - 46

So they've been pretty good. Iowa is probably inflating their rank a bit too.

Cause I'm lazy, whats the stats here on out of opposing D?

Total D remaining:
Minn-22
OSU-16
Wisc-6
Purdue-50
Neb-Over 50.

So it looks like the toughest D's are ahead of us on average.

I think everyone knew there were going to be growing pains. If you watch the games you can see the concept and often times it is the players not making the plays (drops, flags, overthrows). We are playing youth like never before and BF has an undeniable passion. That all sounds great and the rope is still plenty long but if the numbers don't improve Kirk is going to be firing his son in 2-3 years.

If it came to that scenario, Kirk would simply retire and Brian would no longer be with the University of Iowa.

I agree Dawgs. Unfortunately in my list of scenarios this one has now tied "KF retires in '25 and gives Brian the reigns." The next 2-3 years are Brian interviewing for a job. Brian will never care/see anything I have to say but I would encourage him to start making some drastic strides to get away from the "KF offense." (I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE THIS POLITICAL JUST DRAWING AN APPLICABLE COMPARRISON) I think there was a fair amount of the country who voted for Trump because they wanted something different than the status quo. If BF is KF all over there is going to be a push towards something different for difference sake and honestly that crowd has a leg to stand on. When a casual fan, announcer, OTHER COACH, can tell you what play we are about to run there needs to be change and IMO if Brian wants to be the HC he has to change us just enough.
