it's going to be tough fight to get back to the NCAA tournament

here's how I see it playing out:

Thu, Dec 29 @ Nebraska W L
Sun, Jan 1 @ Penn State L
Thu, Jan 5 vs Indiana L W
Sun, Jan 8 @ Rutgers W
Thu, Jan 12 vs Michigan L W
Sun, Jan 15 vs Maryland W
Wed, Jan 18 vs Northwestern W
Sat, Jan 21 @ Ohio State L
Thu, Jan 26 @ Michigan State L
Sun, Jan 29 vs Rutgers W
Mon, Jan 31 vs Northwestern W
Sat, Feb 4 vs Illinois W
Thu, Feb 9 @ Purdue L
Sun, Feb 12 @ Minnesota W
Thu, Feb 16 vs Ohio State W
Sun, Feb 19 @ Northwestern W L
Wed, Feb 22 @ Wisconsin L
Sat, Feb 25 vs Michigan State W
Tue, Feb 28 @ Indiana L W
Sun, Mar 5 vs Nebraska W L

that would put us at 19-11 (11-9 Conf), a winning record in the Big Ten might be enough to get a play-in game in the dance

Fran’s teams are too unpredictable.

This team is not going to beat Huskers on the road.
Now if Murray is back that could change

This season is shaping up as a repeat of the 2017 season, if not worse. Hope the new recruits coming next season can rejuvenate the program back to where it is an NCAA program, this team is not.
Having half of your 11 scholarships as walk-on's is on Fran and having 2 of your main players not playing doesn't help, this whole team was destined to fail and it's not disappointing that prediction.

Would definitely have them in. I just worry about getting to 11-9.

The season isn't over. We have 19 chances coming up to erase the stink of this loss. Obviously if we play like we did today, we won't win any more games this year. Let that sink in.

The non-conference season is, so now the only season that matters starts next week. A road game at Nebraska is the second conference game but it could be an indication of the trajectory of the rest of the season.

Best case scenario is Iowa gets Murray back and starts to find some defense. And they will still get beat in the 1st or 2nd round.

Kind of nice rooting for Iowa and knowing each year they'll be good in football and basketball. And kind of sad there should never be an expectation of a Big10 championship or long tourney run.

That was a brutal loss, but it's not fatal to your NCAA hopes if you right the ship. The NET ranking dropped to #60 this morning but Rutgers got in last year with a worse NET than that and a terrible loss to Lafayette at home. The problem is, you used up almost all margin for error.

Yeah they are definitely on thin ice already. Without a winning big ten record I don’t think they get in.

Yep, Rutgers had a Q4 loss, 2 Q3 losses, a 2-4 record against Q2 and got in because they went 7-7 in Q1. They had a NET of #80 and #77 KenPom.

Boise St (8 seed), UNC (8 seed), San Francisco (10 seed) all had a Q4 loss on their resume as well (there may be more I just looked at the 8-12 seeds).

Very generous. Hope you’re right but a have my doubts

If you’re at a Nashville bar and your eyes are on the Iowa/Neb hoops game, you’re watching the wrong things
Probably right. But I never miss a basketball game and will go to the watch party. Might not be much of a party 😕

I’m taking receipts.

Thats tough guy talk for I’ll rub this in your faces if you’re wrong. But, if you’re right, you’ll never hear from me again..

L to Michigan at home but beat all of Maryland, Illinois and Rutgers at home?

Doesn't seem likely. I think we beat Michigan and lose 1 or 2 to RU, Maryland or Illinois.

W at Wisconsin? A solid maybe. A win at Rutgers? Nope.

Don't worry markfromj, I'm 100% sure your mom is safe from any abuse from Legs94. Iowa has lost 1 Big Ten game already and there's not enough horses to go through the rest of the 19 game Big Ten schedule without losing at least an additional 5 games. That is Fran's benchmark while at Iowa. He has never guided Iowa to 5 or less wins in the BIG and less then 3rd place and that's with his best players ever. A far cry from the Jeckel and Hyde players he currently has on this roster and having 2 bigs that are basically bench warmers is a sin Fran will have to live with for the rest of this year. Not good for a coach of Fran's caliber or respected by his peers as a coach. This years roster makeup was a complete failure on Fran's part.

Look at some of the other B1G scores. The conference is pretty weak this year. Who knows how things might turn out, especially if we get Kris back at full speed and Sandfort finds his touch. We've got nineteen conference games left to prove ourselves one way or the other.
