I was so energized by the first half, a modern offense, a QB making plays with his feet and arm, signature Iowa with great special teams and good defense the second half was everything everyone has been complaining about for years. I had hope than I had despair no I’m worried

Yeah. Those solid adjustments. Phil made almost none from what I saw on defense. Same gaps open in the zone.

It was Kirk’s mission to make sure Sullivan didn’t have an outstanding second half. He took the game away from him and put it on the defense that was getting burned all game.

After that early long completion and averaging about 7 yards per rush, didn’t you love all the play-action calls and deep chances we took, especially with Wetjen? You could tell they spent all that bowl prep time on the passing game.

Offense went into turtle mode the second half. No creativity, no shots downfield, just short dishes and Sully breaking the pocket too early. Is it because Lester was told to go turtle? Or is it because of the lack of talent at skill positions? Hard to tell at this point.
