I've given up on the dream of being a top seed and am just hoping the team can figure out how to play defense, rebound, and make FTs. The inability to do those things will knock Iowa out of any tournament early regardless of seed. The ability to do those things and this team has unlimited upside. It really is that simple.

Lol at LSU still being in.. 16-10 with 5 terrible losses OOC and now one bad one in conference.. Sign the best player and get a ticket I suppose

This is going to be the most wide open tournament I think we've ever seen. I could make a case for every team seeded 1 through 10, possibly 11 to make a run to the final 4.

I think Iowa still has one of the best 8 resumes. The loss to PSU sucks but now it seems that all of the top teams has one of these losses. Of the projected 1, 2, and 3 seeds, only 'Nova and WVU don't have a loss outside of the RPI top 50.

Priority #1: Iowa needs to keep a top 3 seed to guarantee playing in Des Moines. 4 would be a coin flip.

For selfish reasons, Des Moines is all I care about at this point. I think we're probably three wins away, including BTT, from solidifying that.

Basically what last night did was take away one of our Marquee wins. They off-set each other and no big deal. That loss can be erased if Iowa finishes strong (4-0) and gets to the Semi's of the BTT, they could very easily sneak back into a #1 or #2 seed. If they somehow get on a roll and finish 4-0 and win the BTT, you are easily looking at a #1 seed.

That loss does not mean its the end of the world, I am with everyone else that it wasn't pretty. After what happened 2 years ago I think a lot of Hawk fans are worried. I think Fran will get the shipped turned around and they will be fine.

I think it's very possible we finish 3-1, and win 1-2 games in the B10 tournament and are still a 2 seed. There is so much mass carnage this year with teams beating each other up that it would take a serious meltdown, probably 0-4 and 1 and done in the B10 tourney, for us to not be a top 4 seed.

there are lots of stats, rankings, etc that go in to the seedings, but if there is any eye test involved at all, anything worse than 3-1 could drop us out of top 4 seed. We would be 5-5 over last 10 games and could be a 4th or 5th place conference team at that point. 2-2 would probably take a run to BTT championship game to return to that top 4 seed. All of our remaining games are against teams with RPI below us so difficult to move anywhere but down in that stat category. Several teams that were strong on our resume earlier in the year may not be as helpful now such as ND, MSU and maybe even ISU if they were to lose a couple more conference games. This is a fluid situation IMO and there is so much parity this year, the Hawks need to hit the refresh button and finish strong.

6 more days and we find out. Lose to wisky at home and the slide continues.
Must win is hyperbole. But failing at home against bucky and the road to find themselves again gets tougher.
At this point, I'd consider them holding serve at home by beating wisky and indy a good result. 13 wins in conference is not too shabby. And if they don't it will be disappointing, but they'll still make the dance.

No matter what the teams we've lost to do, we aren't going to be hurt too much by it. Our only bad loss so far this year is against PSU. Even of our remaining games, the only "bad" loss would be at OSU, and I'm not so sure that's even that bad of a loss. Thankfully unlike college football, in college basketball there's no "eye test". A win is a win and a loss is a loss. The committee won't use an eye test and teams don't get style points. It'll all come down to W's and L's. I think we finish 3-1 and get a 2 or 3 seed. I just don't see any possible way that Iowa drops below a 4 seed unless we go 0-4, 1 and done in the B10 tournament. Like I said previously other teams around Iowa will lose games as well. That's just how this season has been.

USA Today dropped us all the way down to a 4...and completely out of Des Moines.

The Iowa team that has shown up the last several games looks nothing like a #1, 2,3 or even 4 seed. Hopefully they can put it back together for the stretch run and resemble the team of the early Big Ten season that was clearly one of the top teams in the country.

I realize every team goes through their own "funk" I mean recently look at Texas A&M, UNC, OU and others. These teams were top 5 and lost 1 or 2 games. I think Texas A&M has lost 3 straight and dropped almost out of the top 25!! So every team goes through this little funk.

I just hope Iowa can re-group and play good basketball. It wouldn't be so hard to take if they would play good. Last night I just saw poor closeouts, poor rebounding, and overall poor execution. Its tough to take a loss when you don't play well.

I think they will rebound and if they win 3-1 and 2 in BTT, I think they are lock for a 2 seed (but remember that every year theres a team that is sitting at 8-12 in the rankings and they go on a run and win their conf tourney). Those teams are the ones that sneak into the 2 seed line most of the time. If Iowa is a 2 or a 3 I am okay with that.

3-1 would be amazing and I think more likely than people think right now. Ohio state and Michigan aren't as hot as people think they are! Find a way to go 1-1 vs Indiana and Wisconsin IMO..

Disagree that there is no eye test. Disagree that only Ws and Ls matter. RPI is not nearly as important as most people think per Selection Committee member quoted in the Omaha paper this week. Same person stated other metrics (mentioned kenPom) are looked it as well. With all the carnage going on, I think 'What have you done lately' will be every bit as important as Body of Work. Hawks need to step it up NOW for a good seed.

There will be room for two teams in the tourney not available most years as SMU and Louisville are banned from post season this year.

Currently CBS has
Big 12 with 7 teams in the tourney including even Texas Tech as an 8 seed.

Big 10 with 5 teams plus Wisconsin and Michigan in as 11 seeds in play in games.
