Well how many did get issued?? I think that is a good indication of how many were actually uninsured. And where did those outlets get the 50 million number, from the feds?? So half bought?? 25 million policies??
This great piece of legislation, according to Huey, should have at least half of the 50 shouldn't it??
Why something to replace it?? The system as it was set up before was working fine as far as the public was concerned.
There's certainly a lot of work yet to be done, but the uninsured rate is plummeting. And that's something that should be cheered. Maybe you don't think a drop like this is worth celebrating, but I sure do.
This comment is sarcasm, right?
I don't have a dog in that fight. I just like to call out gross abuses of logic.
You're aware that about that same percentage is happy with their new insurance, right? Even 74% of Republicans like their new plans. So I can now ask you the same thing. Why do you want to jack with people's coverage who are mostly happy with it?No, why should the government be involved in Health insurance?? 80 some percent were happy with what they had so why change the whole system.
Oh, did I pop your bubble? Look it up.
They all want to privatize it eliminating the guaranteed social security. Typical of the right to be oblivious to the truth of their heros. No need to look it up. You are flat out lying and being disingenuous. Nothing new for the Left though.
How about you provide actual links that show that Bush, Ryan etc. tried to specifically eliminate Social Security?

And before you accuse me of not answering your question, it's because nearly 20% of the population didn't have insurance. That's reason enough in my book to overhaul the system. We're clearly in a far better place now. People are equally happy with their insurance and millions more have it. Seems like a win win to me.

that's 'cause they didn't even have to write it! Just had those Big Pharm execs in-town a couple of weeks and VOILA!!!! Magic big business pork bill was written!Except part D, republicans love that one for some reason.
There is no fight. It's a charade...political theater. A complete dog and pony show for the ignorant masses. The R's get their money from Big {Pharma and Insurance companies too. However, they will sucker punch the voters over the next few election cycles by saying they will repeal ACA. This rally their base. Fact is, they said the same about SS, Medicaid and Medicare and they're still here. When will the GOP give up this fight against Obamacare? It's pretty obvious that the law is here to stay. It's even dumber since the Republicans don't have anything to replace it with.
No, why should the government be involved in Health insurance?? 80 some percent were happy with what they had so why change the whole system.
Because the private market sucks at it. 80% isn't something to brag about. That's like an airline saying, "Yes, well 80% of our flights land safely so we're good with that".
Defending us......managing programs of terrific social impact effectively, monitoring and safeguarding the quality of our water and air, generally directing the nation in a singular path into the future, guaranteeing ALL our citizens have the same constitutional rights......I could go on but I'm off the see the Rolling Stones! Not good at it? Is that why 80 some percent were happy with it? Let's start a list of things the government is good at and then get back to me.
You already have one company in Iowa that was started to write these policies and now they have closed their doors. Too many claims and unhealthy people. They got a 40 million dollar loan from the government to get started.
Why something to replace it?? The system as it was set up before was working fine as far as the public was concerned.
I have some swamp land in Florida to sell you.

The government is doing as good a job as possible. It's the politics of this nation that are the source of your complaints. NOT the government. It's the politicians who represent us (allegedly) who are failing by refusing to properly fund these programs. And it really would take very little to practically negate your complaint. You haven't answered the question at all. Social Security, how is that working it is going broke. Medicare going broke.
Post office, going broke.
18 billion in debt we have to pay back sometime.
Ya we are in great shape.

As Margaret Thatcher said, the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. If you took every dime from all the billionaires in the USA it would not run the federal government for a year.True. Someone must pay for the subsidies. But I'm not about to tell some poor person that they don't get health insurance because some rich person wants to buy a third Lexus. Sucks for the rich guy, but we have to prioritize. Healthcare is more important than a second vacation to Europe.
Not to mention the fact that our debt level is by no means excessive for an economy of our size, and that no, we don't have to pay it back some day, as a matter of fact.

It's too nice a day to be researching SS details, but broadly speaking privatizing it is akin to replacing a pention plan with a 401k. That would be replacing the guaranteed bulwark against abject poverty that is SS with a new program. Privatization does eliminate SS.A voluntary option to invest 10% of your SS. That's what Bush proposed. That is not attempting to eliminate SS, that is trying to allow people to make their own decisions on where their SS funds go.
You are either being purposely disingenuous or you are severely uneducated on the subject. You're a smart guy so I'm not sure which one it Is.

Actually, not to quibble, but it is 18 Trillion, with a "T". But hey, let's keep spending like a drunken sailor.

Because it weakens the bulwark. Then you don't have to do it. It's voluntary. And only 10% so I couldn't be left with nothing. Why such fear of me taking personal responsibility of a small fraction of my own SS?
You're really bad at logic, aren't you? Other posters even busted you on it. Yet, you just can't help yourself and keep doubling down. Why do you keep playing this game and pretending that Obamacare either has to insure everyone or no one at all?6 million is 20 percent of the population? And I disagree on the people liking. Ask your accountant or come sit in my office.
I bet most of the people who now have insurance who couldn't get it before are pretty happy with it.6 million is 20 percent of the population? And I disagree on the people liking. Ask your accountant or come sit in my office.
I saw it once, very briefly. They blindfolded me, drove me around in circles, and led me into a windowless room in some secret building somewhere. Boehner was there. Same with McConnell. About ten other high ranking Conservatives were there, as well. Everybody removed their clothes and I was ordered to take part in a massage train. Orrin Hatch has wonderfully strong hands. It was then they produced the Holy document. Everyone hushed and nodded in reverence. I remember feeling Steve Scalise squeeze my thigh. As the Document made itself around the circle I could feel the anticipation build. Finally, it was passed to me. I wiped the sweat that had collected above my lips. "Only read it once," Scalise had said, "Tell no one what you saw here." I did and collapsed in awe. I passed the document on, spent physically and emotionally. I can still recall the exact contents of this document. It was a children's place-mat from McDonalds. The puzzle had been solved in purple crayon. The solution was "Grimace."I thought we were supposed to have the GOP Healthcare Plan by now. Wasn't it promised by Paul Ryan a few weeks back?
Has anyone seen it?

How can you even dispute this? I know the right is becoming fond of ignorance, but this is ridiculous. So in other words you cannot and you'll continue to spew talking points which are incorrect.

I like this idea. Sue to make healthcare a right.I guess I will have to write the Supreme Court to update the law
