1. If God created life on Earth, why did he create a world in which 99% of the species that have ever lived on this planet have gone extinct?

2. If God created man from the dirt 6,000 years ago, why did he create man with vestigial parts like wisdom teeth, tonsils, and the appendix?

Serious questions. Not intending to be demeaning. Just curious if there are any good rationales for either of those two questions.

Thanks.

I'll give my take. I believe in the Christian God, as well as Jesus Christ being the son of God and my savior. It's a choice I have made based on nothing more than faith. It's more of a spiritual thing for me. As far as the stories in the Bible? Well, may as well be categorized as fiction imo. It's a book written by men. It's not to be taken literally in my opinion.

Kent Hovind and Ken Hamm have all your answers homie, I'm not up on my current Evangelical go to guy but those were always the two parroted back in the day. Just read their opinions and that's pretty much the answers you're going to get from that crowd.

How often do you go to Church?

Just curious.

I can't remember the last time I went. My relationship with God has no need for organized religion or a church. I believe, and that's good enough for me.

A Church would help your relationship big time, IMO.

Jesus said in Matthew 18:20:

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them"

If you don’t mind my asking, what led you to believe in Jesus and the Christian god?

Kent Hovind?

LMAO 😂

You also have to take into account the time period it was written in.

Okay.

Does that mean no one will be able to even attempt to answer those two questions?

I’m not looking for a debate. I have never been religious but I am interested in the possibility of a god. It just has to make sense for me to believe.

You made a choice based on subjective experiences.

That’s fine.

Just…please…don’t tell me how to live my existence based on your existence.

It’s really that simple.

I don’t think anyone on here can actually give you definitive answers. I know I can’t so won’t try.

Yeah, I know. I was in the young earth creationist/evangelical crowd for awhile. That guy was all the rage. My family members are still in the club and have visited the Ark Experience in Kentucky.

Wild to think our recent former VP is in that club.
Kent Hovind is a nut. And a fraud.

He has served prison time for defrauding the government, divorces and gets new wives within ten minutes, and actually tries to convince as many people as he can that Homo sapiens once walked with dinosaurs.

That’s the type of shit that I can’t believe.

Where in his response do you see him doing that? Maybe I am not understanding what you’re saying.

If you don’t mind my asking, what led you to believe in Jesus and the Christian god?
Don't mind at all. My parents brought me up in the church. Until I was 12 or so we went to church every Sunday. Not sure why but we slowly stopped going consistently until we just stopped. I think it was mostly a social thing, my parents drifted from their "church friends", I still held on to my beliefs as I became an adult. I certainly question many aspects of religion, and if I'm completely honest I certainly have questioned the existence of God. I mean, if we're honest with ourselves and use any kind of critical thinking, why wouldn't you? Like I said before, for me personally it's more spiritual and I make a conscience choice to believe;

No arguments here, just sharing a couple of the known go to's I experienced in the Creationist club.

Edit: Look up "Creation Science" and "Intelligent Design" and you'll find the "answers" you're looking for. Specifically Intelligent Design. That's the marketed version of teaching science through the lens of a creator.

It's all nonsense, but that's a lot of what the creationist folks believe.

In the Bible sometimes 7 means 7. Sometimes it means 77. Sometimes it means 77 times 7. I don't know how you could set your mind on 6000 and think you are right beyond contestation.

I’m not sure I follow what you mean, friend.

You can check your projection at the door bro. I have never vocalized my beliefs to anyone, nor judged anyone who doesn't believe. I believe in loving everyone and would never try to influence other's life choices.

1. If God created life on Earth, why did he create a world in which 99% of the species that have ever lived on this planet have gone extinct?

2. If God created man from the dirt 6,000 years ago, why did he create man with vestigial parts like wisdom teeth, tonsils, and the appendix?

3. If white Americans are truly God's Chosen People, why did he put all of our oil we use for our giant trucks, under their sand?

I've never understood the thought of an all-powerful entity creating such a lesser source of conscious capable life to look to him/her/it/whatever and cherish. Why?

I think there are things we don’t know or understand. One of the things I look forward to in the future is learning the answers to some mysteries.

A guy I was recently introduced to by my nephew is a guy named Cliffe Knechte. I’ll include a couple short YouTube vids for you to watch. He primarily goes to universities and debates/answers questions. I think you might find it interesting because his faith is rooted in what he has concluded to be the truth through researching and finding compelling reasons to believe.

I’ll bite.

1. This is fairly easy to answer. Within the Biblical world view, sin allowed death to enter our world. Eventually, everything will die and God promises to restore the Earth and make things right once death has been conquered.

2. Vestigial parts does not prove evolution nor does it prove God is fallible. I think to have a productive conversation, you need to break it down part-by-part versus lumping everything together. Take wisdom teeth for example. First off, we know that removing them in the teenage years is helpful but that only began in very recent history. The fact is that if left in, not all become impacted. Many people historically were fine. There is also evidence the teeth are useful in cultures even today. There are tribes in sub-Saharan Africa and aboriginal tribes in Australia that have been studied and scientists found the wisdom teeth in these people caused no issues and space was allowed for them to rise and not be impacted. The common trait was not genetic, rather they found their diet played a factor. A diet high in roughage and coarse foods ground down neighboring teeth which led to spacing created. There are also vestigial parts in other species that science later found use for. Lastly, you would think some vestigial parts would evolve out of the gene pool. Think appendix’s. Useless (that we know of) but has the ability to cause sickness and death. Over millennia, evolutionary theory says non-advantageous traits will evolve out. A trait that has the ability to cause sickness and death en masse certainly fits the description of non-advantageous. But that is not what has happened.
