2 stats that stuck out to me

4 steals for JT, in limited minutes.

Jordan Bohannon has played college basketball in 3 different presidential administrations.
Never heard that last one before, bet we don't hear it again. I've never seen any of his white house games.

If I was Jon Dielbler, I would want an asterisk on the B1G 3pt record that JBO looks poised to shatter.
He's only 4 shots back after playing the same amount of career games as of last night. So I don't think you need an asterisk with this. What you will need an asterisk next to is whatever the final number is when Jordan sets the career number of games played record in the Big Ten.

This does show how many extra games Diebler has played thanks to longer tournament runs compared to JBo. Jordan hasn't missed any games due to injury aside from the medical redshirt year of 2019-2020, but has averaged only 33 games in each full season season. Diebler averaged 36 games in each season.

The 5 starters for Iowa all played 17 minutes.
However, Patrick McC played 22 minutes

.

Could of scored 150 if starters played 30+ minutes, they looked really good togethger. That second group was a bit wild and out of sync in my opinion, some good moments but a bit disorganized.

My view is:

Longwood is an awful team, so while I get we all want to be optimistic I’m kind of pumping the brakes.

Teams with size are going to give us major problems.

I’m still not sold on defensive effort but given a more athletic squad I do think the defense will be improved.

And JoBo has been injured for many games he played in.

My take on Longwood U.....they were pretty athletic, had a number of competent 3 point shooters, and gave good effort, but obviously had no size.....I think it was just the right test and opening game for this Iowa team. We saw a lopsided score...but we also saw that a number of players are exactly where we should suspect....still in need of development, confidence that comes from a comfort in game, and trying to find their niche. We also saw some missed assignments on defense and some mistakes on offense......perfect as we easily got a win while giving the coaches and players vital material to work on.

As much as I don't like these cheesy games and the soft schedule, it looks like the right thing to do for this particular team at the moment. We will see how things develop as we move forward.

We did give up way to many dribble drives to the hoop last night, even with the starters in. That is what stuck out to me defensively.

Wow that's remarkable. The table I reference for player stats doesn't include games played for 3 point stats, just years played. I had no idea they were that similar despite the extra partial season. But still, Bohannon does gets an extra season to surpass and add to that total. However I will remember differently from now on that he came pretty close!

On a related note, how is dick-punch Davison doing? He still having to eclipse any marks for dirty play yet, or is he just using the extra season to lap the field?

Someone said he got a flop warning 8:49 into Wiscy's first game...

Iowa is such a small team, it's a wonder why they don't just forfeit the rest of the season. geez

Diebler played 144 games for Ohio State.

JBo has played 144 games for Iowa.
......and as previously stated Bohannon has a more challenging 3 point distance. I'm sure an asterisk should be placed somewhere, but jBO came close, in the same number of games, despite the 3 point line changes.

Does anyone know who held the record before Diebler broke it and how many games they played? I don't know, but I do know that teams didn't used to routinely play 36 games a year.

Diebler ... 374 threes in 144 games (2007-11).

Louis Bullock ... had 339 threes in 132 games (1995-99).
