Takeaway for the last 20 years of Iowa basketball

*Iowa basketball is 362-293 (3-6 in 6 NCAA appearances) (8-6 in 6 NIT appearances)

*Appeared in AP top 25 poll in 10 of the 20 seasons. (4 with McCaffery, 6 with Alford)

*8 seasons with 20+ wins, 2 with 19 wins. (3 with Alford, 5 with McCaffery)
((Tom Davis had 10 seasons with 20+ wins out of his 13 years))

*7 different teams have won the big ten regular season during this time

While Fran hasn’t held onto or for that matter extended his level of success...5 of his 9 years he has produced 20+ wins. 1 year with 19 wins.
He has turned his recruiting up a notch recently.

I truly feel he is doing the job, we just need to find a way to help his weaknesses...I.e. hire a defensive minded assistant coach.

Am I frustrated with the results of late, absolutely...but if anything, that’s a sign that Iowa basketball is relevant again. It wasn’t that long ago that Todd Lickliters squads were on the floor...
