After decommitting from Missouri this past week, Class of 2018 defensive tackle Daniel Parker Jr. was in Iowa City on Saturday night for a game day visit with the Hawkeyes. Afterwards, we caught up with the talented 6-foot-3, 270-pound Parker to get his thoughts on his first game at Kinnick Stadium, what he is hearing from Iowa, and the latest on his recruiting.
Q: How did it go at Iowa today?
PARKER: It was great. The fans really interacted with me and it was a crazy atmosphere.
Q: What all did you get to do on the visit?
PARKER: I just visited the weight room because I was late, but I have previously visited most of the athletic facility.
Q: Was that your first game there though? What did you take away from the atmosphere?
PARKER: Yes sir, it was my first game there and that has been the most loyal community I've seen so far. I mean literally everyone and their brother was at that game. The crowd really got me hype and wanting to play on Saturdays already.
Q: While you were there, which coaches did you get to talk with and what was their message?
PARKER: I talked to Coach Woods and Coach Bell and they introduced me to some of the 2017 commits and said we are the future.
Q: What’s next for you recruiting wise? Do you have more visits coming up?
PARKER: I will be at Mizzou this Saturday, Arkansas October 8, and Notre Dame October 15.
A three-star prospect, Parker currently holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Missouri, Iowa State, Nebraska, and Missouri State.
