Class of 2018 QB Ben Bryant visited the Hawkeyes on Saturday.
Class of 2018 quarterback Ben Bryant has early offers from Wisconsin and Central Michigan and interest from a number of other schools. On Saturday, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Bryant had a chance to visit one of those programs, the Iowa Hawkeyes, who had him on campus for a game at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday night. Afterwards, we caught up with the Illinois native to get a complete update.
Q: What all did you get to do on the visit?
BRYANT: Before the game, there was a recruit buffet and a tour of the facilities. During the tour, I got to see the weight room, the indoor field house, the player lounge, and the team meeting room. We got to see an awesome hype video that the football players would see before the game today. After that, we walked over to the field and went down on the sideline for warm ups. It was really cool being down there on the field because you could feel the energy of everyone around you. After warmups we went up and enjoyed the game from behind the end zone.
Q: Which coaches did you get to talk with and what was their message?
BRYANT: For the most part, I talked with Coach Barnes, who is the director of recruiting most of the time. He told me that they are very interested in me and Coach Davis, the QB coach, would be at one of my games to see me throw in person. He told me that they have offered two QB’s but they most likely won’t take it so they are still looking for their guy.
Q: What did you think of the game itself?
BRYANT: The game itself was awesome to see. The atmosphere was unreal and the Iowa football team seemed like they were really well coached and I like that a lot. I thought on both sides of the ball Iowa was dominant. They have a winning culture there and that’s something makes me like them more. As a QB, I really liked their offense. They passed the ball a lot which is always exciting and they had a mix of being under center and in the gun, which I think is a good way to mix things up.
Q: What's next for you recruiting wise? Do you have more visits coming up?
BRYANT: Yes. I am visiting Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Central Michigan. I may go to other schools, but those are the ones that I know I’m going to for sure.
