We will be losing 4 seniors. Connor will get one scholarship, that leave three. Odds are good PMac gets one, that leaves 2. If Moreno becomes a Hawk that leaves one, do we go big or try for a point guard?

The roster in the fall of 2019 right now looks like this:

Freshman 1
6'6" SF Patrick McCaffery (****)

Sophomore: 2
6'5" SG Joe Wieskamp (****)
6'5" SG Connor McCaffery (****; announced on Apr 28, 2017 that he will play baseball in the Spring of 2018 and redshirt in basketball in the fall of 2017)

Juniors: 2
6'10" C Luke Garza (****)
6'9" F Jack Nunge (***)

Seniors: 6

6'8" PF Tyler Cook (****)
6'8" SF Cordell Pemsl (***)
6'9" PF Ryan Kriener (***)
6'0" PG Jordan Bohannon (***)
6'5" SF Isaiah Moss (***; ; was reshirted in 2015-16)
6'6" G Maishe Dailey (***)

Bohannon (a senior) and Connor (a soph) are really the only PG's listed above.

With just 2 schollies potentially available, I think you have to get a PG and a forward/center to join Patrick.

Imagine if Patrick and Connor walk on? Sounds good at first but not sure if you want a 15 man roster (13 on schollie and the 2 McCaffery boys).

Fran has a lot of cards to play, it appears. Will be fun to watch this roster evolve.

What's crazy is how big that 2020 class is shaping up to be; losing 6 seniors and replacing them with 6 freshman in one class is hard on a program not named Kentucky.

I think we need a banger who can play both the 4 and 5. We will miss Cook, Pemsl, and Kriener and I don't see Nunge as the guy to defend the big post players. Foster may be the answer in 2020, but there's still room for him to get minutes even with another banger in 2019.

A point would be nice piece as well, as we seem to be loaded at the shooting guard and small forward positions. The offers to the long, athletic type 3/4's surprise me a bit.

I see Patrick and Joe at the 3, Joe and Conner at the 2, Nunge at the 4, and Garza in the post. Conner may play some point, but it would seem to me a 4/5 is key as is a point. The only way adding athletic 3/4's becomes a priority is if either Conner or Patrick walks on or worse yet doesn't play for us. The fact that we are targeting some of those types makes me question the plan a bit.
