Here are a few stats from the 2021 Hawkeye Offense - these stats are based on the 12 regular season games, so the BTT game and Bowl Game are excluded:

Averaged 26 points per game
Scored 30 total Offensive TD's and 23 FG's
Averaged 122 yards rushing per game and 178 yards passing which combines for 300 Total Yards per game
Converted 68 of 200 Third down attempts for a 3rd Down Conversion rate of 34.0%

Iowa's primary losses on Offense are Linderbaum, Goodson and Schott. It will be impossible to replace Linderbaum, but I actually believe the run game and total offensive numbers in both the running game and passing game will be significantly better statistically in 2022.

My expectations for the 2022 Offense:

Average 30 Points per game
Score 42 total TD's (39 Offensive and 3 Defensive TD's) and 16 FG's

To get to those improved Offensive Numbers, Iowa would have to put up the following Points, TD's and FG's for 2022 games:

SDSU - 34 Points, 4 TD's, 2 FG's
ISU - 24, 3, 1
NEV - 31, 4, 1
at RUT - 31, 4, 1
MICH - 24, 3, 1
at ILL - 38, 5, 1
at OSU - 20, 2, 2
NW - 38, 5, 1
at PUR - 27, 3, 2
WIS - 24, 3, 1
at MINN - 34, 4, 2
NEB - 31, 4, 1

I believe realistic expectations for total yardage per game should be around 150 rushing yards per game and 210 passing yards per game.
For context on those numbers, Iowa finished the Bowl game vs. Kentucky with 173 yards rushing and 211 yards passing and that was without Goodson or Keegan Johnson playing.

As far as total 3rd down Conversion %, I think the goal should be to be above 40%.
If they faced the same number of total 3rd downs as they did last year (200 overall), getting to 40% would require converting an additional 12 3rd downs total or 1 additional 3rd Down per game.

In my opinion, Quarterback play and the cohesion and health of the Offensive Line will be the biggest keys to overall improvement in the Offensive Numbers in 2022.

I will post an additional post with my positional breakdowns by unit and player.

Our offense didn't average 26ppg fyi

We avg less than 1.5 TD per game over the last 8 games. Unless big changes are made, you're gonna be off by a bit ;)

They either need a lot more big plays, or a lot more first downs. Not seeing a ton of potential for big plays, so the Hawks need to move the chains.

BTW, do the Hawks have a kicker for 2022? A great kicker like the last few would be awesome.
