We currently have NO scholarships available for the 2023 class. This, of course, will change as additional players commit to the 2023 class and as players come and go via the Transfer Portal or leave early for the NBA Draft.

In Men's basketball, of course, you can have 13 on scholarship.

ONE ADDITIONAL THING TO MONITOR: due to covid-19, 2020-2021 was considered a "free year" by the NCAA, so, for example, seniors Luka Garza and Jordan Bohannon could have come back for the 2021-2022 season. Jordan did, of course. So, anyone listed below as Seniors could potentially play/graduate a year later than CURRENTLY expected; however, THEY COUNT towards the 13 scholarship limit.

2023-2024 Roster (13 on Scholarship; 0 scholarships available):

FRESHMEN: 4 players

6"10" C Owen Freeman

6'0" PG Brock Harding

6'7" SF Pryce Sandfort

SOPHOMORES: 2 players

6'4" G Tony Perkins

6'2" G Ahron Ulis

6'8" F Kris Murray

6'9" SF Patrick McCaffery

6'11" C Josh Ogundele

4 Notable Walk on players:

SENIORS: 1 player

Dante Eldridge (assistant coach Courtney Eldridge's son)--has played 2 years (through 2022) in college, first at William Penn & then Kirkwood CC; a 5'9"combo guard; on May 5, 2022, it was announced that he would be joining the Iowa roster as a walk on.

JUNIORS: 1 player

Luc Laketa--a 2021 6'6" wing/forward; on May 13, 2021, it was announced he would be joining the roster as a preferred walk on.

SOPHOMORES: 1 players

Carter Kingsbury--a 2021 6'5", 230 lb shooting guard; on July 10, 2021, it was announced he would be joining the roster as a preferred walk on. Carter ended up redshirting the 2021-2022 season so he is now scheduled to graduate in 2026.

FRESHMEN: 1 player

Amarion Nimmers--a 2022 6'3" combo guard; on April 30, 2022, it was announced he would be joining the roster as a preferred walk on. On Nov 14, 2022, it was announced that Amarion would redshirt during the 2022-2023 season so he is now scheduled to graduate in 2027.

HS teammate and plays for the same AAU program as our newest commit, Dasonte Bowen.

Maybe Omaha Bilew goes to Brewster and plays with Desonte Bowen next season. Not likely to make a difference in Omaha’s decision to play in college but if he did for a season maybe it’s with the Hawkeyes

2022 Reed Bailey and 2023 Taylor Bowen are also on that team and are being recruiting by Iowa. Wonder if Iowa can get something going there

Iowa offered Owen Freeman on June 2, 2021.

He's starting to blow up; the offers are rolling in.

He was an Illini fan growing up; he unofficially visited June 5.

tOSU & Purdue, among others, have recently offered.

Check these out & Watch:

Iowa offered Simeon Wilcher on April 4, 2020.

He is part of same AAU program (PSA Cardinals) as Joe Toussaint

However, his older brother, Xavier transfer C.J. Wilcher, committed to Nebraska on March 26, 2021. CJ is recruiting Simeon hard to commit to Nebraska.

Remember when we thought/assumed Fred Hoiberg hated recruiting? Well, for hating it, he sure seems good at it.

Iowa offered Taylor Bowen on April 2, 2020.

Iowa was his FIRST high major offer.

Check out these connections between 4 players: Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen all attend the same High School (Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH) and play on the same AAU team (Expressions Elite). Alex Karaban (2022 SF who Iowa offered) also plays on the Expressions Elite AAU team.

He was a stand out at the recent Pangos AA Camp.

He is starting to blow up. Oregon and tOSU, among other schools, are now involved.

As you can see in the tweet that follows, Iowa is heavily involved in his recruitment.

Check this out & Watch:

Iowa offered Jeremy Fears Jr. on July 29, 2020.

He is a stud PG from Joliet, IL; he attends La Lumiere High School in Indiana.

And, of course, the Illini & Indiana are also in the hunt for him, along w/ Auburn, OK State, Maryland, Gonzaga, Creighton and more..

Taylor Bowen really stood out at the Pangos All American camp.

The orig post has been updated

Rivals is now showing T.J. Power as part of the 2023 class. Iowa offered him on Aug 27, 2020.

And yes, Iona has offered. ;)

Rivals is reporting 11 offers, including:
Iowa
UConn
Creighton
Penn State
Miami FL
Boston College
Providence
Marquette
UMass
Bryant
Iona

Iowa offered Taylor Bowen on April 2, 2020.

Iowa was his FIRST high major offer.

Nice 4 player connection Fran has going:

* Dasonte Bowen (2022 PG Commit), Reed Bailey (2022 PF, who Iowa offered) and Taylor Bowen
all attend the same High School (Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH) and play on the same AAU team (Expressions Elite).

* Alex Karaban (2022 SF who Iowa offered)
also plays on the Expressions Elite AAU team.

Taylor's phone blew up today.

Iowa offered Omaha Biliew on May 21, 2019.

The Hawkeyes were the first to offer Omaha.

Omaha Unofficially Visited Iowa on June 7, 2021.

If I were to guess, I would say Omaha chooses one of these 3 options in 2023:

1) Enters NBA Draft. High school seniors could be eligible for the 2022 NBA Draft; the NBA Players Association just has to sign off on the current proposal.

2) Plays in the G League for 1 year and earns around $500,000

3) Plays at Kentucky for his 1 and done year.

This is a FREE story. Note that Omaha is quoted saying "I mean, it’s Kentucky you know. They just produce NBA players."
