Fun facts. they haven’t beat Iowa in a dual since 2006. this past year was the first year they finished higher than Iowa in the tournament since 2004.

He has been a pretty vocal Nebraska fan for quite some time. I often disagree with him, but he absolutely deserves some props for now.

Nebraska absolutely peaked and brought it at B1G’s and backed it up again at NCAA’s. The injuries to Teemer and Parco cost Iowa any chance to match their output and they may very well have still finished ahead of Iowa even if both finished top 4.

Kudos to them for 1 hell of a finish to their season. Now, they need to actually back it up next season to show it wasn’t just a one-off…

Except we beat them in a dual meet and took 4th at Nationals without the points of 2 multiple time AAs, and a sure-fire AA on the bench. Our 184 beat them in the dual, our 149 beat them in the dual, our 157 didn't wrestle them in the dual, and our 174 lost in the dual and out placed theirs at NCAA. Not sure how he can say "and it's not even close!" And the fact that he is a face of wrestling journalism makes his statement that much more ridiculous.

Baffles me then that Pinto and Stiles, two legit AA contenders left the second-best program in the country to go to Oregon State and potentially Rutgers. Stiles would clearly have the 149 spot now, and Pinto could have the 174 spot if Minto holds 184 for one more year.

Kael Lauridsen - 64 on 2023 Big Board

That's 3 top 20 in Senior Class only (Big Board) over last 3 recruiting periods.

Not a good outlook for the future of the far and away 2nd best program in the country.

At best they were a close 2nd best team for 2 tournaments in 2024.

Nebraska is salty that they just had the tournament of their lives, and are having trouble attracting guys in the portal. People aren’t stupid. They know that Nebraska wrestled two standard deviations above the mean for a single tournament, and wins a team trophy once every 8 years. It’s a good not great program that probably scores 50 points less with a similar roster next year.

I was a bigger fan of Manning’s when he was at UNI and can’t stand the crybaby antics during meets but I’ve enjoyed watching them for quite a few years now. Solid up/down the lineup and get after it. I see what he’s saying because of how they consistently scrap.

Sorry, I was just giving the guy the benefit of the doubt as a fan vs. a "media outlet". I didn't see the exact wording he used to call people out until a few minutes ago. As I said, I don't follow him.... With that said, I beat on him on here as hard as anyone, but I don't mind a fan going overboard when his team has the best performance they have EVER had.

His wording may have earned the hate he is getting on here, but I am willing to give the "fan" portion of him a pass, since many on here would be just as over the top if Iowa had the best performance they have ever had(even if that performance would obviously be much better, considering Iowa wrestling history)...

At NCAAs it was weird watching warmups. The wrestlers were getting after it, the coaches were gathered chatting with each other. All was normal.

Then there was Manning just standing awkwardly on the mat just totally zoned out. Maybe he’s socially awkward, but he had the classic dementia awkward empty stare with action all around him. I’m not making any claims or diagnosis, but it was visibly very noticeable.
