After releasing J Robinson, Brandon Eggum has officially taken over as head coach. He has been coaching there for 16 years now. The assistants are Luke Becker (14-yrs), Dustin Schlatter (1st yr) and Zach Sanders (1st yr).
They are 6-3 with losses to OK State (3-34), Penn State (6-33) and Nebraska (11-21). They finished 4th at both the Clif Keen Invitational and at the Southern Scuffle.

TIME: Sun, Feb. 5 @ 11 A.M. CT

Iowa will lose 141, 165, 197, 285 Topher will lead most of the match and lose it on a last period take down. Sound about right?

If Clark does not wrestle, we could lose this dual pretty easily going 4-IA to 6-MN in match wins, & our bonus advantage not quite able to cover that gap.

I expect my Gophers to win 3 or 4 matches. Best scenario we go crazy and win 5, you guys still win the bonus point battle. 24-15 Iowa I see it.
 
Is Kroells a big heavy? If we have a comfortable lead going to heavy, just FF the weight. I know that sounds chickensh*t, but we can't afford to lose another heavy to injury.
 
2 Questions.

1. What the heck happened to Bobby Steveson. He was awesome in HS and that is his record. Is he injured? It makes me think don't bet your house on Gable Steveson being a cant miss super recruit that iowa must get. I realize you can argue Derek vs Skylar St John etc until your blue in the face, but most of the time the brother is a good indicator on can they translate to college.Consider this a red flag.

2. Who has Thorn lost to and why. If conditioning is the Topher. If not I agree with the above post saying Topher will lose to a TD O Thorn is the more talented if conditioning is equal.

Just my own opinion but I think he's a 197 lber wrestling 184 and that's why his results have been sub par

Could be. Which plays into my theory of quickness moves up, not down in weight. He may find himself a step quicker when he moves up after Pfarr leave. Likewise I worry as much as I like Wilcke at 184, will he slower that is being hidden at 197. who knows. Just theories I try to recruit by in my own make believe world.

2 or 3 of Bobby's losses were at 197 when weighing in at 186. Weight cut was tough to start the year. Now he has adjusted to that but is running into the Big Ten depth at 184. He wrestled Boyd and Dudley tough in defeat.

Thorn has lost to Gulibon and McCrystal in Duals. Other losses happened at the scuffle but memory fails as to who.

But Wilcke is just flat-out undersized. He's an athletic guy, and I think he'll be plenty quick at 184. He may not light the world on fire, but I'll be surprised if he doesn't have a lot more success at 184 next year.

This Stevenson was likely recruited to get Lil bro. Lil bro is the real thing. You just never know with big guys since the competition is never as deep as most studs play football.
Look at guys like Benick, Broc Berge, Black, and some others.
 
Brancale is suiting up just in case Gilman is foolhardy enough to try and crash the Minny huddle during introductions.
