Nope. Let's keep the game of basketball - not turn it into a game you play at the carnival.
If we add a 4 point shot, then while we're at it, let's add a "dunk a ref" game, too.
Ya know, hit the bullseye and the ref falls into a pool of water.

Read today that there is a new 3 on 3 leagues starting up comprised mostly of retired NBA players that will incorporate a four point shot. Not sure there is a big enough market to support this type of operation, but I guess we'll see.
I'm the only one that thinks its a great idea.
I'm old enough to remember a time when there was no 3 point line.

I have no problem with it. It is the kind of thing that is so difficult, especially when guarded, that people won't just try to attempt it to the detriment of a regular offense. It really is only useful as an equalizer in end of half situations.
The big thing though is that they need to award 4 foul shots on a shooting foul from that distance instead of 3. Otherwise there is no penalty to just foul the shooter hard enough to make sure that he misses when up by 4.
