4 games with 40 or more points last 3 seasons (i think we match it this year, making it 4 seasons in a row)
4 conference foes not on the schedule: rutgers/spartans/wolverines/buckeyes (nice)
4 rbs I really like (sargent/ikm/young/geil)
4 new wrs i really like (nico/samson/tyrone/calvin)
4 coaches that impress me (morgan/parker/bell/wallace)
4 consecutive wins against debby (come NOVEMBER)

That's it for now. If I think of more I'll add them.

Its not often when you miss MSU, Michigan, and OSU and can still say you have a challenging schedule (or "not weak"). It speaks to the improving depth of the Big Ten.

A lot of the people I've talked to or read their posts online, that aren't Iowa fans, have us going 8-4 or 7-5, with a few 9-3s sprinkled in.

Part of that is the team expectations in terms of talent, but part of that is also the schedule. ISU has become recognized as a yearly challenge and they'll be a tough out again this year. We play at an improving Purdue team with a head coach on the rise, Nebraska is all hype for Frost and that game is at the end of the year (no telling what the teams will look like by then), Maryland is tricky because they had a ton of talent last year and were devastated by injuries, and of course we all know about f***ingNorthwestern. That's all without mentioning the two toughest teams on our schedule in PSU and Wisconsin......

Nate Stanley, Iowa's QB, is #4......

If Iowa gives #3 to another player on the roster, that will make 4 players with the #3......

I only bring the facts, people.

4 GAMES ON THE SCHEDULE THAT can change the complexion of Kirk's record

Cyclones (10-9)
Terrapins (1-1)
Bugeaters (4-5)
Wildcats (8-9)

Just one game alters the balance in those rivalries.

Hawk fans should be forced to look at those numbers every season before predicting wins and losses.

With the "New" Nebraska on the schedule it is only fair. Those boys are gonna go back to the kick your face in boys from the 90s. I hope Iowa can recover in time for the B1G Title Game the next week

If it were Wisky/MSU/Mich/Buckeye you'd still call it a challenging schedule. And you'd be right. BECAUSE EVERY GAME is a flip of the coin it seems. We need to elevate the program to the point UNI isn't a challenge.

Isn't it also 4 straight wins vs the clowns?

You think Sargent is an effective back? His YPC doesn't excite me.

I don't want to dump on Sargent at this date since the problems seem to extend to the entire offense. Thru the first two games I see him as a legit D-1 back. But yeah, I was hoping for more and will remain hopeful for now. But he needs to show more against the upcoming FCS team. Everyone was all excited because we got our 2 missing offensive linemen back yet our rushing total was slightly over 100. Lucky for us that 100 rushing yards is the magic number when it comes to wins.

I also want to see more from Sargent. Fwiw he has played against two good defensive lines. Toren Young looks like Iowa's most effective back at the moment. I might even go on a limb and say most effective offensive player other than maybe Hockenson.

Young, Hockenson, and some linemen like Render.

Nate will throw better soon. I hope Noah catches more passes that hit him in the hands

2-0 feels good but I think most of us realize that we will need more from the skill players against Wisky if we want to win. Beating the Badgers really sets us up for a special year but it can't happen with a field-position-keep-the-score-close-into-the-4th-quarter strategy imo. Wisky will beat us at our own game in that scenario. We need to start strong (think Hooker against O$U) and catch them off guard with our offense. This incredible defense alone can beat the first 3 teams on our schedule, but not Wisky. The offense has to step up.

I'll say if the defense plays like they did today, and special teams keep punting like they have, then we have a real good chance. Depends if the offense can get more than field goals.

To your point . . .
