This obviously was a pivotal play in Saturday's loss.

Does anyone remember the last time Iowa run this play? I have a distinct memory of seeing this play in a past season, but honestly can not remember if it has been run since......

The last time for this exact play? I have no recollection.

I remember a similar play in the Insight bowl vs Missouri, but I think that was a PA rollout. I could be wrong.

I remember a play vs Purdue in 2015 - Hawks were driving toward the North endzone. I thought it was similar, but looked back at the play by play and only see a 3rd and 9 pass that was complete to a TE.

I remember thinking to myself at the time it was a great call - maybe Purdue thought would run to set up a FG attempt - That first down and ensuing TD sealed the deal....Would love to see a replay of it and compare it to Saturday's "shoulda been'....

Here's the play to Hockenson this past weekend.

there's the game in a nutshell...

3 mistakes made this a VERY different game:
1. INT giving PSU the ball at the 4
2. The play above
3. The INT on first and goal from the 4

The run by McSorley was big, but any one of the 3 above goes another way, and the result is likely different.

If if's and buts were candies and nuts...

Aaaand... game.

Must have been an instantaneous adrenaline surge seeing such an easy touchdown. Hell of a play fake however.

Here’s a highlight reel from that game. I see a Beathard to Kittle TD at 4:39.

Damn that play will haunt Stanley for years to come. Gotta flush it though!

Anyone notice during the game a exchange between KF & BF?? Someone who was at the game texted me and said they were yelling at each other and then he said KF walked away smirking?? He said the exchange did not look good, I wonder what it was about.

My guess is that they've been butting heads about just how aggressive they should be. Kirk was probably in full-on "I told you so" mode by the end of the game since aggressive play seemed to be a critical part of the loss.

McSorley's TD run - super aggressive d with nobody back
The 3rd and inches - pass when a sneak would have likely gotten the first down
pass with 1st and goal at the 3 - interception

Kirk would probably have chosen the less aggressive option in all three situations.

Meanwhile, the fake FG TD is probably the only positive from aggressive choices.

After the overthrow by Stanley, Iowa went ahead and got the first down on 4th thanks to offsides by Penn State. Throwing the pass on 3rd and 1 was absolutely the right call as it fooled everyone. Coaches schemed an easy 7 points there.

Yep, that one was an execution failure to be sure.

That was the Stanzi to Reisner throw that I still can't believe didn't go for a TD!
Was that the one where Reisner did a flip? Watching that live I could have sworn that was a touchdown. And then I think Kirk decided to kneel
