With a budget of $9 before tax and tip, Cheapism.com looked at reviews on TripAdvisor, Yelp, and UrbanSpoon to find the best cheap restaurants in every state. Limiting search results to the cheapest bracket (the $5-$15 range), we looked for restaurants with an average 4- or 5-star rating from at least 50 reviewers. We also consulted local newspapers, regionally-focused magazines, and popular websites.
