6 and 6 in 2025

Excited Wake Up GIF by Originals

Can’t wait for August.

That’s the emotion of the moment talking. No one would do that. Great special teams and winning the penalty and turnover battle always gets you to 8 wins. That’s why KF has hit that number or better with incredible consistency.
Nah. I’ve been saying it for some time. The schedule and experience that’s leaving says ugly for next season

What will be funny is Iowa will probably need to win at Nebraska next season to become bowl eligible.

How many wins does Kirk need for the record? If he doesn't get it next year I'll do a swan dive off the old cap
Importantly, how many wins does he need for the record AND 60%? We need Franny to post his stat update.

3-9. **** Ferentz. Buried the program. Would’ve loved him if he retired last year or even this year. Instead, he’s ****ing the program hard
He's been at Iowa for a quarter of a century. If he buried the program it was the very program he himself built up.

More so playing a Big Ten West schedule got you to eight wins. We ain’t in Kansas anymore Toto.

Name the six wins!
Im thinking Albany and Umass are definite wins. I’d say we are favorites (slight) against Minnesota and Michigan State at home, so let’s call those two both wins. @Iowa State, @Rutgers, and @Wisconsin are toss ups to me, I’ll say we just win one of these games because they are all on the road. So that’s five wins. I think we will be decent underdogs against Penn State, Indiana, Oregon, @USC, and @Nebraska. Legs give us one win here.
That puts us at six and six with wins against Albany, Umass, Michigan State, Minnesota, @Rutgers and Indiana. That’s a best case type scenario too.

2-10 is possible.

I know that ISU, Nebraska, Minnesota have a history of failure vs us but our personel will be bad enought it won't matter. Wisconsin is horrible that is perhaps a win. Michigan St and Rutgers will be winnable and losable. Indiana, we'll see if they can follow up, but again they are propably in better shape than we are.

He hits that number because of an easy schedule. Iowa was protected by playing in the B1G West so many years.

Yeah, I’d say 4 is most likely. Decent chance at 5 and a very outside shot at 6.

We lose a TON from an average defense and have little talent to step up and fill the holes. Still a rebuilding project on O and we just lost our AA RB. The OL is poised to suck again and it all starts there. Then you still have a huge question mark at QB.

On paper next year’s team is markedly worse than a mediocre squad that just limped to an unimpressive 8-5 record with a damn easy schedule, and next year’s schedule is much tougher.

KF needs to get his precious record and ride off into the sunset. He’s on his way to hanging around too long and leaving Iowa football in a mess just like his predecessor did.

Sadly, given the NIL landscape and Iowa’s weak NIL game, it doesn’t look good for this program. I think we’re in for lots more mediocrity, or worse. Beth will have her hands full.

6-6 is best case.
Yeah, 6-6 is reaching the ceiling. 7-5 earns Kirk Coach of the Year given just how f***ing awful this roster is gonna be on both sides.

I do think our skill positions will be okay, but the OL being a wash from this year's group would be an optimistic outlook. The DL may be slightly better, the LBs are gonna be the worst in the Ferentz era, I shit you not, and the DBs will continue to operate under Phil's system, good against average QBs and receivers....and garbage against teams with speed, that play up tempo and know how to attack our flat-footed f*** DBs sitting in our soft ass zone while mobile, athletic QBs pick us apart with timing routes.............*kicks table*.

Albany W
At Iowa St L
UMass W
At Rutgers W (if we lose this game, sell the farm and abandon ship)
Indiana L
At Wisconsin W (Fickell is toast)
Penn State L
Minnesota L (end of the Ferentz Era is near)
Oregon L
At USC L
Michigan State W
At Nebraska L (We had to assess where Iowa was as a program............and our conclusion is that at 5-7..........Kirk Ferentz...............

Correction , it gets you 8 wins against a baby soft schedule which we’ve had in the pathetic BIG West and this year. 0-9 against ranked teams recently. The schedule gets better next year. This program is ****ed.

A winless B1G season is not entirely out of the question. Wouldn’t that be a hoot - KF’s 27 seasons bookended with 0-fer B1G gems? He wouldn’t be the only Hawkeye crying.

I'd love skill players to show up here. Until we have a good to above average line more than 1 year Ina row, it's just not happening. KF's best seasons have always had strong O-line. We have had a few positions drafted high, but no full half of a line line that was stellar. The Ferentz o-line guru tag has been lost for about a decade.
