Diii will face bankruptcy if they don’t play sports. Their biggest draw for going to a diii school is the opportunity to play sports.

Wartburg already is offering a 5th year tuition free to try and keep what they have.

I am curious if DIII coaches are going to high school games to recruit. Which is odd, way to dangerous for us to on at but more than happy to come out and watch you play and try to convince you we will play next year.

i watched a game on espn last night with a team from the southland conference vs a team from the ohio valley conference. not to mention all the local highschool football going on locally and on espn2 yesterday.

is it possible that we can start looking for ways to play and move forward instead of looking for ways to quit?

Yep watched the same. In about 10 days, we'll see the NFL start too. They have somehow managed to practice in pads safely. They are not in quarantine. This whole thing about not being safe for 18-23 year olds to play a sport outdoors due to this virus is absurd on so many levels.

NFL players can isolate themselves and have a controlled environment, HS/College players are in school, exposed to numerous individuals which may or may not follow social distancing/mask guidelines. Ever since school/colleges have reopened, there has been general increase in cases and positively rate. Unless these athletes isolate themselves from the general public, I would highly doubt they will be able to finish the season. I do believe that there is little chance of transmitting COVID during practices or games due to being outside and not gathering next to others for extended amounts of time. The meetings and activities that are in more confine spaces indoors would be the place transmission will happen more than likely.

Medically speaking, it is not absurd to take precautions against a virus, unseen before with zero idea of the long term affects it can or will cause. There is no historical data to base the guidelines and as new information comes out, these guidelines change with it. Now we are looking at the potential of re-infection of COVID because of mutations and lack of sustainable antibody generation. There is so much that is unknown about this virus still, so when medical and public health experts create this guidelines, they are doing it for the 330 million people in our country. Medical professional have to look at the big picture and try to figure out what is best for all. Having someone's health or life in your hands is a responsibility that most people have never experienced and don't want any part of. If people actually focused on the big picture and work together, we probably wouldn't be in the situation we are in now.

Yeah so now we can close down every time there's a new virus or a bad flu season. Now that's absurd

Yes, it IS absurd. The medical world, for months now, has known how certain age groups seem to be more affected than others. But, even after all the days/weeks/months of compiling data, we (the country) were still bullied and pressured into staying under the rock we crawled under when this virus started spreading.

We've continued on with sporting events through the emergence of CTE - players/people know the possibilities of participation, both college and NFL.

It is and was absurd to not play football considering all the data that had been released - the data shows this age group is at a very low risk.

Turn off the corrupt TV news and life will be better. Time to move ahead with life. Most college players are taking courses on line and being responsible. Give them some credit.

Exactly. It's all just theater at this point. The rules of the game (where nothing can happen on a team if any positive cases) means that we can get this absurd theater where restrictions have to be in place forever, literally. When a vaccine comes, it will not be 100% effective, so there will still be cases. so why will football be okay next year?

Every conference in Iowa HS football played successfully on Friday. You forgot to post that.

For context. If football was a new sport, no university would start a program because of the health risks. It’s the closest thing to UFC.

Probably true. This study published in 2017 said that 33 NCAA football players had died since 2000, either in off-season conditioning or in games. At that point, it was about 2 per year. I don't know if the numbers have improved since then. We can play football in college because on average 2 players die each year as a direct result of football-related activities, but we can't play for a virus that we have the data to show does not impact healthy young people.

Can you provide us with your location data from your phone? Would like to see how much you have been outside your house since March.

I think many will go bankrupt even if they do play football.

What about the NAIA schools and/or conferences, of which Grand View is one.

No, as a parent of DIII grads that wasn't draw at all. Yes, for other activities as one draw and just a chance not to get lost in a huge school/classes.

Explain the Central Arkansas vs Austin Peay game this past weekend. They’re both FCS schools and belong to FCS conferences.

The reason those smaller schools have decided not to play is because at this point it costs more money for them to field a team and travel than it does to just not play.

Ohio State is legit

But as good as they looked during the regular season, they haven't exactly lit the world on fire in the playoffs.

Clemson, in my opinion, will win the whole thing. Their conference is soft as butter and they are a legit team led by the probable Heisman Trophy winner.

Alabama will be what they always are and will go as Tua's brother or whoever they throw out at QB will take them.

Oklahoma is the same as Alabama with a conference that isn't as good BUT they have to play all their opponents. Texas, Oklahoma St., Baylor, TCU and Iowa St. will be pretty solid.

Was working in Alabama last week, working in Southern Louisiana now......they are definitely fired up for football around here with full support. Wish we were doing the same. Man I hate whiny pussies. Can't all the whiny pussies just lock themselves up and let the rest of us live?

Georgia starting QB opted out. 4 LSU starters opted out so far. Other schools except for Bama have had guys opt out as well. in the ACC UNC has had close to ten guys opt out. Not only are starters opting out but guys that would provide depth which is really needed especially if people get covid. I just don't see this season going smoothly even if they do play. I would bet several games get cancelled for the conferences that decided to play. Heck UCF and USF both have had like 10 guys each opt out.

Wal Marts are open. I hear they want in on buying Tik Tok so they too can be involved in the wasting of youth.

University of Utah AD just laid off everyone. Coaches, admin. Everyone. THAT is the consequence for not playing this year. The cure is worse than that disease.
