7/8 Cyclown Fanatic staff writers predict a clown win

Not outlandish imo. All pick a close game and that's how I see it. But the Hawks win of course. I think one of our wr's surprise both teams. ;)

Not surprised. Pretty funny stuff. Gonna be a lot of delusional funny shit outta little bro on CF next week. Get your popcorn!

Don't you expect that most Iowa site staff are going to pick Iowa to win? No difference, everyone is going to make the "homer" call. I've been watching this series from day one, and this matchup may be the hardest to pick so far...no idea how the rained out first game impacts either team, and we've yet to see much from either team (Iowa seemed to stay pretty vanilla last week and I have no doubt we'll see some new wrinkles from them on both sides of the ball). As always, its likely to come down to two matchups...ISU's OL vs Iowa's DL and Iowa's Power Run game vs ISU DL and LB's.

One thing in Iowa's favor, is ISU's very untested kicking game...could be decisive if this turns into a defensive struggle.

After reading through their picks, I don’t see anything wrong with them. None of them seem confident at all that the Cyclones win, but probably made that pick based on what they hope happens.

The Iowa beat is 50/50 but then again they realize 8-5 teams are flawed.

I have seen a lot of Iowa writers predict and ISU win as well. Seems like that cover the teams in the state favor ISU over Iowa this year.

ISU should have a good team this year, and a lot of people are picking them based on what they did last year in beating TCU and Oklahoma. Iowa State, unlike much of the big 12 does actually play some defense, and I have read some of there fan opinions that seem to think that Iowa will struggle with there defense. That all depends on which Iowa offense shows up. To me, that is the deciding factor. tOSU has twice the defense ISU has, and we hung 55 on them, so I think whether we win or lose depends more on our play then theirs. I think we also have the advantage as were probably the only pro offense they will play. I don't know, but isn't everybody in the 12 a spread team? Iowa plays enough spread teams that ISU's offense shouldn't create any new difficulties that we have not already seen. ISU runs that 3 3 5 defense, which I would think we should be able to run the ball against, so they will either have to add a 4th man up front, or drop the safeties to support the run and that's where we hit them with Hock and Fant. I think they have more matchup issues then we do. Just my opinion.

What I think is the most laughable is that there are clearly Iowa fans stuck in the 80’s/90’s who go into this game every year thinking there is no chance we could lose to ISU. I guess you could also be 6 years old and not remember an ISU victory.

I love my Hawks, but to laugh at ISU because they think they could/should win is what is most hilarious to me. The talent level is not a huge difference.

This is true.

Iowa lost to ISU my senior of high school. Prior to that, the last time ISU had beaten Iowa I was in diapers.

This is a totally different era. Iowa has to bring their A game or they will likely get beat. The caveat, of course, is the disadvantage Iowa State has not playing a full game.

Ferentz is not Custer and Campbell is not Sitting Bull. This game will be a stiff test for Iowa, but Iowa State is not as robust as any top tier Big Ten team. In fact, if ISU was in the Big Ten West I'm confident they could beat Illinois - and I think they could give Purdue, Nebraska and Minnesota fits as well...but I do not see the Cyclones in the same class and Wisconsin and Iowa, or even Northwestern.

The bottom line is this, and every Cyclone coach, player and fan knows this deep down...Iowa State will show up Saturday as I always expect them to do under Campbell going forward, but I can not honestly give the Cyclones better than a 1 in 4 chance in Kinnick tomorrow.

Iowa State 20 Iowa 34

So we should see a big surge in Clone players being drafted / leaving early.

I like your score prediction. The only thing that makes this game close is if Iowa has more turnovers.

Agreed, this is why I say whether we win or lose depends more on our play then there's. We play a good game, we win, but ISU is very capable of winning if we do not.

Losing to Iowa state (being out of conference) doesn’t piss me off nearly the same as losing to Minny, Nebby, Wisky, NW or GD PURDUE!

It’ll be an entertaining game that I highly doubly Iowa will cruise in. This isn’t a cupcake Iowa state team but they are definitely beatable. Just enjoy the rivalry.

(basketball is a different story, not sure why)

Probably not. Which would be the same as the other 10 times ISU beat Iowa the last 20 years. If Iowa beat every team we had more future NFL players on the last 30 years I would have way less gray hair. :)

I’m not saying Iowa shouldn’t win. Just funny how some people think there is zero chance ISU can win.

Iowa State goes 8-5 last season after 3 or 4 losing seasons now they are world beaters. They got lucky last year vs OU looking ahead to Texas and TaCoU pissed that game down their leg with stupid turnovers deep in the ISU red zone.

Did Iowa get lucky vs tOSU last year? Absolutely. It was a trap game after the PSU emotional comeback win with MSU coming to Columbus the week after the Iowa game.

The thing that separates Iowa from isu is the lines on both sides of the ball. Iowa will win the line of scrimmage on O and D with the O doing enough to win and the D shutting down Kempt having anytime to throw the ball. 31-10 Iowa.

Not this year...Iowa has one position group that would most likely considered better and that is OL(based upon reputation). ISU's DL will have their way with the hawk OL. How come TCU got surprised last year a few weeks after the clones gave a playoff team their only loss? LOL!!

Based on what, seeing ISwho play in week 1?

They are nothing more than the fashionable pick because “they’re due”...but reality is this isn’t the year.

Contrary to what some hawk fans expect, IMO all signs point to a tough and highly competitive game!

That's the fallacy of using one-game logic. Iowa's offense looked like world beaters against Ohio State then followed that up by laying an egg against Wisconsin.

Last year, Iowa State looked like a legitimate Top 25 team after beating Oklahoma and TCU, until they didn't. Neither Iowa nor Iowa State showed any sort of consistency last year.

There is no question on paper Iowa State looks like a competitive football team. Any Iowa fan who doesn't believe Iowa State is capable of winning today is fooling themself. Besides, Iowa State has already proven in the past they can win in this series with inferior teams.

Regardless, predicting this game is impossible. I see multiple advantages Iowa has, and I see multiple advantages Iowa State has. Both these teams are a complete contrast in styles. Whoever is better today at dictating tempo and imposing their style of play is likely the winner.

Was gonna say the same thing. In fact, most times in close games, it feels like the reporters that cover Iowa, always pick against us.

Kempt won 4 games in a row to start his career starting with OU.

Some Hawk fans?...well that's more reasonable than every ISU fan I've talked to this week as all of them have ISU by two touchdowns or more...lol

And Stanley won 8 games his first year as a starter including OSU, so what the hell does that change. Your statement means nothing
it kills your one game logic theory.....btw, Iowa may not have been consistent last year but ISU certainly was. Clones lost 5 games by a total of 25 pts. ISU lost games late in the season after Kempt injured his shoulder. He was not ever back healthy until this season.

One position group? LMAO

TE - easily Iowa, not even a question
DL - Iowa - not saying ISUs line isn't good this year, but Iowa's is better.

You're a bad troll.
