Now if Michigan could just lose a few more...
It is kinda strange that idle Michigan gets to, for the short term, kick back and watch all of the contenders lose games.

8-1 Michigan
7-3 Illinois (1.5 games out of 1st place)
6-3 Iowa (2 games back)

7-4 Wisconsin (2 games back)
7-4 Ohio State (2 games back)
6-4 Purdue (2.5 games back)

The remaining 8 B1G teams have 5 or more losses

Wisconsin won the regular season title last year. Bad loss for UW, but their fan base will have more patience than followers of a program that last won a share of the conference title 42 years ago.

I hope people who watched Wis lose to Penn St stop acting like the world fell apart yesterday when Iowa lost to Illinois on the road, with a key starter out, and having to start a freshman who has a great bright future, and played well offensively, but had multiple defensive gaffs. You don’t work 3 or 4 years to build a top ranking team to bench them and start with a bunch of freshmen, like some folks are advocating, because you lost a game to a ranked team on the road. Personally, I expected yesterday’s loss, but the losses against Indiana at home and Minn when we were ahead by 8 or 9 points with less than a minute left hurt a lot more.

I updated the orig post. I don't think Iowa drops out of the Top 10 in the AP because of this:

Absolutely incredible comebacks for 10 and 12 to win too.. both were cooked! TTU had a 3.9% chance of winning with a minute left. Missouri had a 6.8% chance with 3 left

Agreed but I think a lot of the hang up is on the “how” ofthe Hawks loss.....and how many times we’ve seen it from a Fran team and from kids who’ve been in the program far too long to be doing what they’re doing, and the officials having too big an impact on the outcome.

Another weekend, and (at least) half the Top 25 [outside the Top 2] loses yet again.

Crazy. But makes it more fun watching games - except when Iowa loses, that sucks really hard.

Just remember everyone is 0-0 when the NCAA tourney starts. All history is negated. Both Iowa and Illinois should get a decent seed. The number is not so important. A lot of blue bloods are down this season. Anything can happen. Baylor and Zags are clear favorites, but both Illinois and Iowa are dangerous.
I disagree w/ you; a team's seed number is important because the one big advantage of getting that #1 seed is that you are pretty much guaranteed not to face Gonzaga, Baylor or Villanova until the Final 4. Upsets can happen, of course, where these 3 teams don't make the Final 4, but I would rather avoid these 3 teams as long as possible, Many bracketologists have Michigan right now as the final #1 seed; Iowa was a projected #1 seed a couple times, and of course, we lose the next game & blow that idea up.

If you are a #2 seed, which is where Iowa has been projected lately, you likely meet Gonzaga, Baylor or Villanova in the Elite 8. Iowa was also a #2 seed in their last Elite 8 appearance, which was in 1987 (34 years ago), where we lost to #1 seed UNLV.

P.S. I have enjoyed the friendly banter w/ you Illini fans. How can this be happening? ;)

I do not know about that. There is lots of complaining on this board regardless of how it happened. The team gave up a late lead at Minnesota and there are complaints. The team plays poorly against Indiana and there are complaints. The team plays well against Illinois, but loses in the last minute and there are complaints. Some people expect perfection and are disappointed when it does not happen.

Jbo went off on somebody on Twitter who attacked him after a bad game. The guy was a school teacher. JBo first pointed out that he was attacking a college kid playing a freakin' basketball game for HIS enjoyment & then asked the jerk how he would like it if he came to his school & critiqued his teaching.

Houston is #5. I am a season ticket holder(a privilege to go this year as the guy who buys the tickets is a named donor on the baseball stadium). Been to almost all the games. Do I think they would be ranked this high if they were playing in the B10. No way. By the way Ted Valentine was one of the officials yesterday. He and Kelvin Sampson definitely have a history. Valentine is no longer calling in the B10. But everyone at the UH games knows who he is for sure.
