Fortunately for us, Trump is far too undisciplined and incompetent to ever be able to bring his tyrannical tendencies to fruition.
Years ago I read Len Deighton's terrific novel, Winter. It begins with the turn of the last century and followes Germans through the 2 World Wars - focusing on the people and culture, not the wars. Especially on the rise of the Nazis.
What impressed me so much was how it answered the question so many of us have: How could individual Germans have gone along with this?
I hate to say it but the similarities between what Deighton describes and what's happening in America today really scare me. It's the frog in the pot scenario and the water temperature is just inching up.
This is why serious, intelligent people don't take either of you seriously.
Listened to Rush on the drive from the gym and he was demonizing Ivy League and professorial intellectuals that worked in the Obama administration. Only business executives are qualified to make health care coverage decisions. I can’t listen to that croaking toad for long, but Mao demonized the intellectuals during the cultural revolution. Is that where we are heading? The working class used to aspire to have their kids educated.
I agree with you about Rush. However what the working man used to call "educated" had taken on a different meaning today. The educated used to have common sense. Now they are forced to agree with everything a teenager, a minority or a woman claiming harassment thinks first, before getting to have their own thoughts and opinions based on facts and research, or else they're shouted down and never heard from again.
These days being genuinely educated bears too much of a cost. You must be "educated correctly". And what's the point of that?
Good thing we are pushing our tyrant to also make gun control laws...
I did't say their wasn't. Im saying that "educated" used to mean "beholden to the facts". Now, we have people who claim to be educated who tell biologists that they are wrong when they say there are only two genders. And if a biologist who still claims there are only two, dare say that at a college, "educated" people will show up to shut that biologist down and chase him away. So, I can't blame people for not aspiring for their kids to become "educated" like that.
Not to get too off-topic; But "2 genders" is basically saying there are two polarities. You have hot and cold, up and down, asleep and awake, light and dark. But, most everything exists somewhere in between the polarities.
I get it. Substitute something else. Put whatever number in there that you want and you know it will change soon enough or half the people disagreeing with it will disagree with the other half because they will have two completely different numbers as the right answer anyway. Point is...the educated scientist is wrong...and he's so wrong that he doesn't deserve to get heard...oh...and he's an intolerant Nazi.
