73 HAWKEYES NAMED WINTER ACADEMIC ALL-BIG TEN
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Seventy-three University of Iowa student-athletes have been named to the 2020-21 Big Ten Winter Academic All-Conference team. The list includes student-athletes from men’s basketball (4), women’s basketball (9), men’s gymnastics (6), women’s gymnastics (11), men’s swimming and diving (15), women’s swimming and diving (15), and wrestling (13).
The Big Ten Conference recognized 1,130 winter sports student-athletes, including 81 men's and 89 women's basketball players, 79 men's and 114 women's gymnasts, 103 men's hockey players, 189 men's and 285 women's swimmers and divers and 190 wrestlers. Twenty-four of these student-athletes have maintained unblemished cumulative GPAs, including Iowa women’s gymnasts Allie Gilchrist and Allyson Steffensmeier.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of March 1 for winter sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
