8 killed in pile up on I-70 in Western Kansas

This probably could go in the storm thread? It's believed heavy wind and blowing dust obscured visibility and led to the pile up. It's a very remote part of the country, and as mentioned in the article getting emergency responders there, and getting people to hospitals was extremely difficult.

I will say the rain storm in DSM on Friday left what looked like sandstorm grit on the cars. Never seen that before, that I can remember.

FWIW, the modest amount of rain that fell in Iowa City from this storm was as "dirty" as anything that I can remember.

It was kind of weird realizing that the dust may have come from Kansas, et al.
