9 turnovers 10 steals

on the road in one tough place to play...takes a lot of guts (nuts)

Steals:
Clemmons (4) Jok (2) Uthoff (2) Gesell (1) Woody (1)

Assist to turnover last 2 games;
Gesell 10 to 2, Sapp 8 to 2...outstanding...

Amazing.......said this in another post about their nuts play in this game on the road and will probably be saying this in many posts today. This game was that good and needs many kudos....huge performance.

Wins would be a lot easier and more often, if the guys would make their ft's at crunch time. Even PJ only made 1 out 2 tries at the end. I was hoping they would put Baer at the line as he appears to have nerves of steel.

big difference between a 1 possession lead and a 2..yep hitting the throws can make the difference in close games. Not sure about Baer because he hasn't been there in crunch time as yet ... but wouldn't put it past him.

Not sure what happened to Purdue, but Iowa's defense was about as intense as I've seen. The quickness of Clemmons, and Gessel, and length of Baer, Uthoff, and Uhl really caused problems. Sapp is the best perimeter defender we've had since, well, a long time, because he's better than Henderson, and that's what's coming to mind currently.

Eric May was a pretty good defender.

I think that we are seeing the effect of having a grown up roster that has played together for 3 to 4 years. The ball movement is great, and Iowa gets a lot of good looks at the basket. Defensively, Iowa is also putting a lot of pressure on opposing teams.

I don't know how to articulate it, other than to say that Iowa is playing a mature brand of team basketball. It looks so different than the 1 on 1 brand of basketball that dominates college today.

We just beat 2 ranked teams that had poor point guard play. MSU obviously misses Valentine, and Purdue has been unable to develop and keep point guards on their roster. The difference between our guard play and theirs was striking. We put pressure on them, and they wilted.

you articulated it perfect with the 1 on 1...just started a thread in watching Illinoise & O$U...we will be very young next year..but I'll bet Fran will be quick to point out what playing team ball is. I honestly feel some coaches seem to be a little tentative...but maybe they like it where they can be a cheerleader while standing on the sideline.
