A Different Sort of Murder By Cop

Acting on a bad tip about a pot dealer, the SWAT unit crashed into a petty pot smoker's house. The resident, probably alarmed by the scary home invasion, picked up his gun - as any gun owner might do - and was blown away.

After a thorough search - the searchers no doubt sweating blood in the hopes of finding SOMETHING to justify the killing - they finally found a little pot. .02 grams of pot, to be precise.

The subsequent internal investigation decided it was a good shoot.

What's the message here? If you are a law-abiding gun owner and you hear people breaking into your home - probably one of the main reasons you have guns - what do you do? Grab your gun to defend yourself against crooks or assume the cops have screwed up again and will kill you if you actually exercise your 2nd amendment rights?

You have presented a great case for the problems that come from a too powerful government and their over reach. You make a great case for smaller, more effective, less intrusive government. Glad to see you coming around.

Chances are the dope dealer had the gun for more than home defense, under no situation should you pull a gun on a LEO.

If swat just came busting in, like they sometimes do, who is to say he just didn't think it was some sort of home invasion?

What if he didn't see who it was? What if he was in his bedroom, heard someone bust in, grabbed his gun, ran to the scene, then got lit up?

This. My guess is these guys just didn't ring the door bell but rather just raided the place.

SOP calls for the Police to identify themselves which I have full confidence they did, in this case you have a druggie with a gun who wanted to shoot it out with the police.

I know this isn't related, but I'm gonna just throw this in here for chits and giggles.

If it's a no-knock search warrant, the first officer through the door should be in uniform.

If he was like you, he wouldn't have a gun.

Police need to investigate more thoroughly, which they obviously didn't do here, instead of relying on a lying anonymous tipster.

I can't believe you would have a firearm.

In fact I'm surprised you even lock your door. You've never done anything to harm anyone so I'm not sure why anyone would cause you any.
I don't lock my doors.

I am a very well-armed liberal. As you should know from HROT threads on guns.

Needless to say I'm more worried about the evangelicals coming to burn the heretics than I am Obama coming to get my guns.

Oh I agree, just last week a house down the street was broken into in the middle of the night. The intruders made the family go in the living room, turn on the lights, and sing old hyms. Thank goodness, a nosy neighbor got curious about why the lights were on at 3:30 AM and called the authorities.

The police report said that the poor family was in the middle of the book of John. The family had to have their stomach pumped due to those crazy evangelicals making them take communion!

You maybe next!!!!
