Hey there, folks, Student here. I'm not much of an active poster, although I read what others post a lot of the time. I write for U Iowa's chapter of the Tab, it's like some kind of online magazine with college students from around the country as its main contributors. Anyway, I recently wrote an article about how Iowa football helped me to overcome depression my freshman year. I thought you guys might enjoy reading it. Link is below.

Glad you're feeling better. It's great to be a Hawkeye!

Nicely done Captain!!

You caused me to think back to my youth. I too went through a tough break up when I departed for college. Took me a year to get over it. But the interesting thing is that this experience had a positive affect on my life. It gave me a wisdom I might have never had. I've told my children that I honestly hope they get dumped hard once in their lives so they can feel compassion for those who need it. Feel blessed for your experience my friend. It will be an important brick in the foundation of your life.

Cary HIgh School, huh? My father ended his career on the faculty at Campbell University in Buies Creek. Just up the creek, right?

Thanks for that story. I have a son that battles bipolar disorder. I never understood what was happening in his late teens until he was diagnosed and then I began reading...and reading ....etc. He is better now but he will live with this for the rest of his life. I can tell you that he is the most engaged when it comes to football season...in particular Iowa football. Loves to talk about it. Loves to learn about the players and is over the top in a positive way when he can make it to Kinnick. I said to him the other day in a chat that to remember you can live a fairly normal life...get your sleep, eat right, exercise and stick with the medication. He nodded as looked at me and said "and Hawkeye football"...we shared a good laugh at that but for him it is so true.
Thanks again for your story.
