A take on Chinese restaurants I agree with

3 and a half stars :)

My family and I were just commenting on the horrible service at our local Asian restaurant. It took 10 min just to get water!
We were walking by that same restaurant a couple days later and my no pic wife said she wanted to eat there again, that day!
I know csb, but I agree with OP.
How does everyone feel about HuHot?

Chinese food is relatively simple and doesn’t require a lot of equipment. If it’s a family business and you own or have a good lease, it can be extremely profitable. Same with hole-in-the-wall Mexican places.

I was told pf changs is authentic.

Special sauce for American customer.

Who flung dung 💩

Crappy Chinese food is a huge huge weakness for me. Damn you, Szechuan Beef combo #14!!!!

Edit - My go-to restaurant, China Wok, is 3.7 stars on google and 3 stars on Yelp.

"Get better service at a refuge camp or even prison."

I've told this story before but it bears repeating. Years ago we went with my oldest son to the local Chinese joint to order some take-out. Very nice folks...neighbors of ours...but it was the first time we'd taken 5 year old Jack to the restaurant. So we're standing there waiting to order when I feel a tug on my sleeve. Looked down and Jack's eyes were the size of saucers. Leaned down to ask him what was wrong and he said, "We can't eat here". I asked him why and he points to one of those signs with a pic and the name of the food on it and said, "They have human beef!".

People do place way too high of a weight on service. Don't get me wrong, I like getting adequate service but for me the bar for that is pretty low. Take my order, bring my food, either check on me once in a while or be available so I can flag you down.

Almost every time I hear somebody complain about a restaurant I love, their complaint is something service related. I always ask them "but how was the food?" and half the time they won't even comment on it.

Out of curiosity I checked and the better chinese places in Tallahassee have 4 and 4.5 stars so this formula doesn't seem to work here. Granted, he did say major metropolitan area which Tallahassee is not.

It's science..
If you're ever in Rochester Mn. Try, First Meeting Noodle. They make hand made chinese noodles and dumplings. Food is legit..

A series of unfortunate events caused me to give up Chinese food. I miss it a lot, but can't get myself to eat it.

Human beef that someone Cumin'd!

I don't understand people who even notice the service at restaurants. I would rather walk halfway across the dining room for my own refill than talk to the waiter for more than 5 seconds after I get my food.

I don’t go to many Chinese restaurants anymore. I’m more a fan of Thai.
Agree. There are now more Chinese restaurants in the U.S. (40,000) than McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Wendy's combined. I like Chinese food but the world needs more Thai.

I see. Kentacohut was designed to reduce the overall number of individual locations in order to bring us this statistic. That is diabolical.

Not sure the Kentacohut concept is doing too well but the Chinese and Thai are fighting back with the "Asian Fusion" concept. This is like WWIII in our food courts my friend. All this gastronomic warfare is what has lead us to a Walgreens or CVS on every corner and the myriad of choices in the anti-acid aisle. Big Pharma wins every time.

I hate it when they are always refilling the water glass in the hopes I don't eat as much from the buffet bar to save them money not having to cook so much food
