I did a quick scan of the board and didn't see this posted. Apparently a girl has caused a bit of stir by ripping a protesters sign outside Jake Trice on Saturday. Probably not a huge deal, except she is on camera stating vote for white supremacy. I'm sure some here will be torn as you are pro-racism, but anti-ISU. The chick has disabled her social media, but I am pretty sure there are still a few pics of her out there. Anybody know Shelby Mueller from West Des Moines?

Unless this person just happens to have the same name with ISU ties, this is a pic from her wedding announcement.

The ISU president has issue statement regarding the incident. The release also includes some comments about him endorsing political candidates. I think he may have taken some heat last week as some people felt he shouldn't "host" a political candidate.

Iowa State University President Steven Leath has provided the following statement in connection with an incident that occurred outside Jack Trice Stadium during Saturday’s Iowa State-Iowa game and questions about his interactions with presidential candidates, two of whom attended the game.

On Saturday, outside Jack Trice Stadium before the Iowa-Iowa State football game, a group including students from Iowa State University held a peaceful rally protesting the visit of Republican presidential candidates to Ames. A video that was posted to social media and has since gone viral shows a woman ripping apart one of the protester’s signs while making derogatory remarks. We have been told there were others who also made derogatory comments to the protestors. These actions are deplorable and not consistent with the type of atmosphere the university seeks to maintain, one of respect even when opinions differ and emotions run high. This perspective is shared by everyone on my senior team. The woman shown in the video is not an Iowa State student or alumnus. Her actions and the disrespectful actions of others have no place on our campus. The incident should serve as a reminder to everyone – students, faculty, staff and visitors – to treat one another with respect even in such highly emotional situations. As a university, we value free speech, but we also value safety and respect for differences. The individual whose sign was destroyed has filed an incident report with Iowa State University Police, and the investigation is ongoing. I also want to take this opportunity to thank the many others who reacted calmly and responsibly to the situation Saturday.

Furthermore, as president I do not and will not endorse any candidate, but I will accept any opportunity to discuss higher education policy, promote Iowa State University, and advance our mission of providing an affordable, accessible, high quality education. I welcome the opportunity to discuss these priorities with members of any political party, and on Saturday I was able to meet with Donald Trump and Scott Walker. The pictures on the football field were taken as Mr. Trump and I were walking to the president’s suite, which unfortunately has been misinterpreted as my endorsement of Mr. Trump – any interpretation of an endorsement is false. Scott Walker also visited the president’s suite, as well as other leaders from both political parties. In addition, I have hosted candidates for political office from both parties at other athletic events. During the last presidential election, I had the opportunity to meet with both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. This ultimately resulted in members of the Iowa State community being appointed to committees and receiving invitations to the White House to engage in further discussion on educational policy – which is certainly a positive thing for our university.

It sounds like she says, "A vote for trump is a vote for white supremacy." She may have just been reading one of the protestors' signs.

The protester got exactly what it wanted. Drunk low hanging fruit that would respond to it's weak ass troll attempt. Both should be ashamed.

Typical BABiscut and liberals trying to stir something up. She was simply restating what was on the sign. Not saying what she did was cool, but nothing she said or did was racist one bit. Nice try though BA

You may be right. It does sound like someone else asks what it says and that is her response. But that isn't what the sign says that she rips.

Here is another guy from Saturday.

I have some balm for the apparent burn on her left bosom. Any more contact info?

Not a big deal, liberals are the most violent protestors, and it's not even close. She did in fact re-read a sign by the way.

Just doing whatever you can to stir the tensions.....not a surprise.

Surprised Leath didn't know that she couldn't have been an ISU alumnus. Has she graduated from ISU, she would have been an alumna.

She clearly says to her friend, "I don't know, what's it say" in response to her friend's inquiry about a sign. She reads the sign then turns around and says the statement about a vote for Trump...

The whole situation has gotten out of control here. There are people threatening her online, spreading her information all over the web, and trying to instigate action against her.

This is exactly what I'm F'N talking about with the viciousness of the PC culture in this country. She ripped up a f'n sign, and she's suddenly public enemy number one. Also, the false accusation that she made a racist statement is completely false, as all she was doing was reading a sign that said what she repeated.

If the 'protest' had signs like that, than it was far from innocent and peaceful. Seriously, people are getting bent out of shape over a f'n torn sign. Absolutely ridiculous.

This is a situation in which someone with the power to control/calm it should step up (Leath?). Make a statement that makes it clear what she did (read a sign) and that everyone should back off.

What about the responsibility of the protesters stoking the flames by having signs referring to white supremacy?

The protester got exactly what it wanted. Drunk low hanging fruit that would respond to it's weak ass troll attempt. Both should be ashamed.

A person protesting a political frontrunner at an event they made political........and they should be ashamed? If anyone should be ashamed it is Trump (and the others) for making the game political.

I'll buy that, but you don't think ripping up a minority's sign that is discussing (?) minority issues can be "racist"?

Conservatives inciting drunks to violence. Wonder where this country is heading.
Yeah, she really f'd #$#$ up big time. The whole protest was ignorant. Also, your liberal brethren was stalking her down on the internet, and handing over as much info about her as possible, whilst trying to get people to go and cause her problems personally.

Just to add a little realism to who's usually the aggressive ones.

Claiming that anyone voting for Trump is a vote for racism for one. Trump has done more for minorities than anyone of those idiots protesting have.
Not to mention that his stance on immigration, whether you like it or not, is the realistic approach to it. You can't just let the country be flooded in by millions upon millions. Look at how the European countries are reacting to the Syrian immigration. Are they wrong for not wanting forced integration?

It seemed to me, that she was just being a drunken fool. It didn't call for a mob style attack from Liberals across the nation. Having an issue with what she did, is one thing.

Trying to instigate violence against her is another.

Well now you've intrigued me (beyond not knowing, again, the actual definition of a word, like "ignorant"):

Pray tell, what is it you are claiming that Trump "has done" which was more than "anyone" of those idiots protesting?

Also, what IS his stance on immigration? See if you can actually ferret it out.

Lastly, how do you know she was drunk? Why are you willing to ascribe attributes to her (drunk) while screaming at others who ascribe attributes to her (racist)? Seems, well, ignorant to do so.

Spot on in all ways. The Internet is a terrible thing many times. I am very glad there weren't cameras everywhere when I was in college.

... or, she could have just been a former student at ISU. You don't need to be a graduate.
