Adrian Clayborn writes in The Players Tribune

Interesting piece here by Clayborn talking about making the playoffs last year, injuries, struggles with Erbs Palsy and life in STL as a youth. One of my all time favorite Hawks here. Hope he has a long productive run in this year's playoffs and no more injuries! :)

I hope they beat the Rams and lose to the Vikings....

Or the Rams beat the Falcons and lose to the Vikings.

Either outcome will suffice. There's Iowa players to root for on Minnesota too.

I don't care for him anymore. Basically told a certain voter base if you voted for a certain candidate, then you're an idiot.

Asked what he meant by that & why.

Blocked immediately and when asked on a business account why he'd block a dedicated fan of his and Iowa fan because of a party affiliation, he blocked that too. Nothing egregious whatsoever, so I'll pass on him.

Sorry that happened to you, I actually had a couple of pretty close friends treat me similarly over the same thing. Regardless of the candidate it is ok to not agree about things. I don’t understand how or why others voted for the opposing party and candidate in my scenario, yet I am open to listening to what they explain to a point. Just because we don’t understand one another or agree doesn’t have to make us enemies.

Sad times indeed.

Great. So now an Adrian Clayborn appreciation thread has gone political. Can this stop happening on the football board, please? You have issues with Clayborn's politics, start a thread on the Off-Topic Board. That's the place for that sentiment on this site. Here, on the football board, this is about Adrian Clayborn the former Hawkeye football player. Loved watching him play for the Hawks and he finally emerged in the Falcons system. Glad to read this article, OP.

Awesome stuff OP! Thanks for sharing!

Best of luck to AC in the play offs. Hope they can make it back and they can beat the Patriots in the SB while he terrorizes Tom Brady.

Concerning all the political talk, wrong board and everyone has different political views and opinions so just be tolerant when others aren't or can't and don't let it bother you because you aren't going to change their minds.

Without knowing what he originally said, this makes me root for him all the more so. It doesn’t bother me at all when people are allowed to voice their opinion.

Good.

Then I dislike Colin Kaepernick because A.) he's not good and B.) He embarrassed himself & the league. Expressing my opinions, see how that works?

I think it is great that you can form your own opinion. See how that works?

I am sure rooting for Clayborn even harder after reading the article and seeing what he has overcome throughout the years. That is a nice story. Good luck to Adrian!

I have met him twice now and he has always been great taking pictures with my kids. He was in Arizona training before he was drafted and i won his senior autographed practice helmet. Still have it. Saw him down at the Outback bowl when he played for Tampa and he took pictures with us. As far as his polictical tweet, i couldnt agree with him more.

See what happens when you care about politics? Nothing good.

Clayborn had a TFL in the falcons win against the Rams in their Wildcard playoff game Saturday night. Lets see if they go on a streak this year and make the SB again.

Marriott Indianapolis lobby bar. Saturday of the 2015 B1G Championship. We take a picture with Adrian Clayborn. Or so my sister thought. Dude looked at her and said “You don’t know who I am, do you?” I quickly said, “Hawkeye great Colin Cole!” He smiled at me and said “She thought I was Adrian.” We all laughed. Awkward laugh. But a laugh.

Will never forget that Penn State game. Anyone who lets politics run their life has serious issues that need to be addressed.

I concur. Hope AC can let that kind of stuff go in the future & just interact with another human. Instead, he chose to lump every bad driver he's encountered to be an idiot and a Trump voter. I don't get worked up much, but it was petty.

I would probably be less inclined to post this thread if Clayborn had interacted with me the way he did with Kwik but it's not really about that. As a fan, Adrian was a great Hawkeye and solid NFL player I like to see succeed. Also have to think he'd rather not be badgered about his politics by someone he doesn't know. Don't get too attached, just be a fan. Then his differing opinion won't cause as much dissonance.

Says the person on a Hawkeye football website talking about how his feelings were hurt. Ok bud. Good luck.

Folks went after the story, which I expected being a Hawkeye site, after I simply stated why I don't care for him. I defended my stance & that is that. Good luck to you as well.

"Blocked! Scooped up! This is gonna be a Hawkeye touchdown. This is Claiborn, the big defensive end, blocks it and takes it in, and the Hawkeyes take the lead. A stunning development here in Happy Valley!"

One of my faves as well. Plus, look at the names on the Iowa jerseys. Many of them played, and or still playing in the NFL.

In all fairness, choosing not to discuss his feelings with you shouldn't be seen as a problem. It sounds like your hope was to change his mind, which he should have every right to not want to hear. You would have the ability to post your opinions of a certain voter base as well. Seems like a weird thing to take so personally.

It sounds like he did "let that kind of stuff go," as he didn't discuss it with you. You have your opinion and he had his, but it seems to this unbiased poster that only one of you tried to change the others' mind.

he blocked a person on twitter that he doesn't know. The horror.

I've done it....heck, I've blocked a bunch of morons on Hawkeye Report, and we 'supposedly' have the hawks in common. Blocked some on twitter too, facebook as well. Yet, I haven't gotten rid of others who hold very different political positions. Why, they are genuine friends or offer sources of credible information. Most, and apparently Adrian and me, have little room for cluttered feeds from people we have no idea who they are, nor care what bias they may have.

Great article.

Just a good man in general.......great representative of Iowa football mostly because of the things he does and how he lives his life off the field. I tweeted him earlier this year (just before the Penn State game) that I was sporting my retro AC jersey for the game......he actually tweeted back joking that he was old since my AC jersey is looking a little rough. Allen Reisner also got into the conversation :) . Just a good dude and I am rooting for him in the playoffs!!
