After 1st 17 minutes of Poptart bowl I must say I love our hawk defense!!!

I don't know our defense doesn't seem to hold up against top offenses and our offense is subpar against everyone. We really can't talk. Read something yesterday where Iowa has been outscored 127 to 7 by the last 4 ranked teams they've faced or something like that. So yeah our D really isn't all that great.

They've been outscored 270 -51 by their last 8 ranked opponents. The Iowa D is giving up nearly 34pts a game against ranked opponents.

The Cyclowns look like the 2nd rate team that they are with all of their non school color jerseys and undershirts untucked and some ripped, hanging down over their asses. What a bunch of clowns.

Post 19 from What If thread.
It's unbelievable how triggered some of you get by anyone who doesn't go along with your bullshit narratives. They literally lose the ability to comprehend what they read.

AGAIN, if you trace back what led to post #19 in the "What if" thread, my response in that post was clearly specific to Iowa installing a spread offense.

Our interaction in this thread clearly can be traced back to the mention of Iowa having both a good offense and defense. So to reference a post about spread in this thread, that is not about spread, sets you up for mischaracterization.

Furthermore, later in the thread you referrenced, I spoke of how having a better offense (that wasn't spread) will be beneficial to the whole operation in the long run, but there are growing pains along the way when a new offense gets established. So you've mischaracterized my overall thoughts expressed in that thread

And you also said you know the defense has gotten less emphasis during practice even though you can't give specific examples of how practice is different this year.

I love “a” defense.

Iowa fans have to love defenses when we field the worst offenses in the nation. It's pathetic Iowa fans tolerate this.

We don't recruit. We can't gain from the transfer portal because we don't recruit skilled players.

Someday, if Iowa hires a coach with energy will join the modern world of football.

Why can’t we have both?

A good offense and defense

I hardly ever watch ISU because I cant get excited by them and this game is the same, no defense, both sides tackling and covering is a big part of the game
Sometimes it has more to do with the quality of the offense that you're facing than the quality of your defense. Iowa scored 19 points against that defense. In today's college game you have to be able to score points regardless of the defense you're facing. This is something that too many Iowa fans don't understand. This year's B1G championship game featured the number 4 and number 10 defenses in the country. Final score 45-37. Good offenses score on good defenses. Iowa can't.

I’m not sure how Iowa’s defense would’ve held that Miami offense in the first half when Cam Ward was playing. Iowa would have to go into a shootout and this team isn’t built for that.
Iowa would have scored a few points because Miami has a bad defense, but you're right. Final score would have probably been something like 40-24 and everyone would have complained that the defense let the team down.

Miami has more offensive firepower than tOSU with Ward at QB.
If I heard right, Miami’s two best receivers chose not to participate yesterday, too.
