After 2 games- Final record predictions?

you are basically saying loss to isu is the sign of a horrible ia team. usually yes but this time the weakest link might be individual not a unit. furthermore D and ST might be the best we’ve seen.
i would still expect D and ST to carry the load, just make their excellent work less susceptible to torpedoeing from 1 position
I'm saying outside of one outlier season, we've never won more than 7 games in a year we lost to Iowa State.

Given the offensive struggles.......it's pretty easy to assume it will hold true again, regardless of how good our other units are.

Sitting at 1-1 after two uninspiring performances by the offense and some FANTASTIC special teams and Defense, what do you all think the rest of the year holds?
I personally can’t see the D holding up at the current rate (T.O.P. numbers will take a toll if the offense continues to be unable to sustain any type of drive) and think we will be a 6-6 or 7-5 team when it’s all said and done.
We’ll beat Nevada on Saturday and maybe get Rutgers and NW, but I don’t really see any other games I feel overly optimistic about.
Even if Padilla takes over at QB and we start to get some receivers back, I’m not sure how big of an impact it can make given the long history of offensive ineptitude.

Thoughts?
Phew! A second chance at this. 🤓

I'm gonna be optimistic and say 4-8. 😊

7-5

If we trot out what we've seen the first two games I'm fully expecting 2-10, maybe 3-9 because the defense gave the offense enough short fields to score. Even with a change at quarterback we have the least talented WRs in the Big Ten and a run game that can't do much because no one respects the pass game. It's conceivable that with Padilla playing ok, and getting some WRs back, things start to loosen up for the run game and we can squeak out a few more games, but I have a hard time seeing better than 5-7.

I think we beat Nevada and Northwestern and split RU/Nebraska. 4-8. Illini will be a slight favorite in Champaign and they will have that circles after so many beatdowns. Kirk is leaving a nice mess to be cleaned up when he gets escorted out after 2024

Under .500

Currently I'd have to say 3-5 wins. Regret betting on Iowa to win over 7.5 games this year!

Nevada W
Rutgers W
Michigan L
Illinois L
OSU L
Northwestern L
Purdue L
Wisky L
Minn L
Nebraska L

BF moves on, KF retires.

I posted after the first game I couldn’t find more than 3 wins on the schedule. Many laughed. Are they still laughing?

Honestly given they’re rolling with Petras this week, this game may be a toss-up. I’ll go 3-9 though.

I originally picked us to go 7-5, but that was optimistic and based on the BS that Petras had been coached up and was improved. Obviously not the case. At this point, I see us winning a tight game against Nevada and then running the table with L's. Kirk will return saying he needs to be given the chance to turn the team around. He will find some spot for Brian and his million dollar salary. More of the same next season.

Trending to 4 wins, Nevada, Northwestern, and Nebraska

Northwestern will be a concern considering how bad Iowa's offense is
Don’t see them beating Northwestern. Evan Hull runs tough and their QB is at least decent. They will be able to put up some points.

Don’t see us scoring much if any on Northwestern.

3-9 season record

3 & 9, half the points scored by the D and special teams. Finish with the worst offense in the nation. Again, no changes will be made in the offseason because barta cut off his balls and mailed them to ferentz a long time ago.

assuming petras takes bulk of snaps against nevada, iowa's overall season record might benefit from taking a loss in this game.

A Nebraskaesqe 3-9 is entirely possible.
Unless we bench Petras and go to the Wishbone.

I think we will be slight underdogs against Rutgers and Illinois. We should be favorites against Nevada, Northwestern, and Nebraska. The scary thing is, Iowa is almost always competitive, even when they lose, because of the defense. But every loss against a big ten team last year, was a blowout, because we didn’t score more than seven points. Even as great as the defense is, big ten teams like Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin historically can and will score in the 20s or 30s or more against great defensive teams. That’s not good.

Probably the truth.

It's gonna come down to the Illinois game to determine whether it's 5-7 or worse. Not sure why we'd lose to Illinois but beat Northwestern and Nebraska, though, because home field doesn't matter with this offense.............

People act like they’ve never watched Iowa before. 8-4ever. We will rattle off a bunch of wins in a row coming up with a primetime upset of Michigan. Lose a close one to OSU and get blasted by northwestern to finish second in the west to Wisconsin or maybe Purdue. Lose to a middling SEC team around New Year’s Day.

Somebody hasn’t watched Iowa’s first 2 games.

Don’t pencil in a win against Nebraska…….Frost isn’t the coach anymore.
