AJ Green having season ending surgery; UNI Pausing ALL Basketball Activities (Dec 16 & Dec 19 Noncon Games CANCELED)

There’s been several teams down to 7 guys in the past.. this whole shutting it down thing is completely new (aside from if Covid is related) and it’s setting a shit precedent.

We only had 7 scholarship players during Pemsl's last year for a few games. I think we had a walkon as our 8th player.

I think the recruiting has been okay, at least for UNI standards. Born is obviously really good. Noah Carter is good. Antwan Kimmons is okay. He's sort of the mid-major version of a Joe T. There class 3 years ago kind of hurts them though in regards to big. They don't have another true big on the roster outside of Phyfe. James Betz has been pretty mediocre in limited minutes his first two year, which is surprising as he's a better athlete than nearly anyone in the valley. He didn't even play tonight. Cole Henry, the other big in that class, redshirted his tFR year, and wasn't very good as a rFR, and is now suspended at the start of this year. The only other scholarship big on the roster is redshirting this year, and I don't think he's a D1 player. Was pretty average on the AAU circuit, and wasn't very good for CF in HS. However, is family is big donors to UNI, which never hurt anybody.

I'm trying to remember, is Henry the kid that played with Foster at Osky? Or is he the kid from Grinnell?

I remember the name and know he played in the Little Hawkeye, just trying to place him.

For a school it’s size UNI pays their basketball, football, and volleyball coach a lot of money. All three sports are terrible currently.

uni could possibly improve their product and save some money with new coaches.

Their AD should be replaced.

This is a fairly common thought in UNI circles right now. To be profitable the Programs have to win. If there’s any sense of failure UNI fans flock to Iowa City or Ames. Attendance at basketball and football are a major issue and the AD doesn’t appear to have any kind of solution besides status quo. Farley and Jacobsen have done a lot for UNI but something’s gotta change soon.

Would not surprise me. That business has been great to UNI Athletics

I have heard rumors about this as well. Some feel like he mistreats them, including players. I have no idea if it is true.

My buddy that told me knows the families of 2 of the assistants. Ill take his word for it. He said it was one of the reasons for aj greens dad to leave for the isu job.

Tuttle-Best player in school history just hired. Doubt he’d come back if this were true.

Crawford- played under Mac/Jake was an Assistant. Has P5 experience and big recruiting connections. Could have left for several opportunities.

Hogan- has been there forever and is extremely loyal.

KG left because he knows Otz and wants to further his career. 1 year left with his son vs. a long run with ISU …

Well one of the assistants wives works for his aunt and uncle and one of the other assistants he knows the wife personally. He just said he doesn’t think the coaches necessarily love jacobson. Again just going off what he’s told me and I trust his information.
