He had his hands full this weekend in Council Bluffs with Triston Lara of Fort Dodge. Sounds like he had to come from behind in the 3rd to win 8-7.

FD is really tough this year with the Lara borthers, Cook, Bennett, Egli and of course Teske. They finished 2nd behind Apple Valley in a stacked tournament.

I know Thomsen is only a sophomore, but has there been any recruiting conversation on the board about him? Is he favoring anyone? Is Iowa actively recruiting him? Can Iowa actively recruit a sophomore?

Schools can't talk to him til his junior year. He can contact schools and do unofficial visits, but I believe it was said that he is going to wait and let the schools come to him.

This match was tough to watch. Thomp was visibly frustrated. He chased Lara all over the mat while Lara played the edge. He almost had a hand full of takedowns but of course they were off the mat. Lara scored a td in the 2nd. Thomp was pressing action trying to get Lara to wrestle him and Lara hit s slide by. Alex tried to put it on him at the end and gave up a td. If they wrestle again I wouldn't be surprised if thomp won by 10. He looked furious and stormed off the mat. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into this match.

Fort dodge has incredibly tough team this year. I wouldn't mind seeing cook in black and gold. I think he has a whole lot of upside.

He's made a couple statements that he's not going to worry about where he will wrestle for a while. I'd be surprised if he committed before his senior year.
