Hawkeye faithful will be interested in recent appointment of Iowa alumni Alex Tsirtsis to the head coaching position at Mount Carmel High School (Chicago). The Caravan are a perennial wrestling power in the Chicago area (recall the Williams brothers Stevie, Joe and T.J.) See link below.

Alex should do a great job. He inherited a program that John Kading had going in the right direction. If he can continue to get (and develop) the top kids that all programs in the CCL battle for, he will be in great shape.

The Chicago Catholic League might be the best conference in the country when it comes to wrestling. Mount Carmel, Montini, and Marmion Academy are all generally Fab 40 teams in the national rankings. Add in Providence, St. Rita, and some great individuals from the other teams and it's tough to make an argument against it being number 1.

The CCL isn't too shabby when it comes to football either. IL has 8 classes and on any given year they can have 1-3 state championship football teams.

They have a good program could help Hawks in future recruting.
